PPC mechs ...
« on: March 21, 2010, 03:20:32 PM »
am i the only one that's bothered by this?
the knockback you get from a PPC hit, god

even at 100m, i can't land a single shot against a ppc novacat if he shoots them one at a time

so, do i just suck or am i not the only one?

ps: what's the difference between this forum and the "public discussion" general discussions?

I'm guessing you're talking about the man pack ppc as there is none in mech.  I actually like it when you're air born cause it's just like air dodging after a shot

yeah it is anoying, but imho the ppc doesnt do as much damage as it should compared to the uac20 and things like that so i think its balanced

try going agenst an srm vulture if he has his launchers on chain fire, now thats anoying

True, the PPC doesn't do much single point damage which makes chain firing them to cause constant hud "damage" the best use of the weapon.

The PPC's seem to have the largest variation in damage between versions. A regular PPC seems to do puny damage, but a CERPPC does almost as much damage as a gauss rifle.

PPC kinda works in the same way Autocannons do. AC2 does puny damage, but CAC20 hits like a truck. Different version for different uses. PPC is no different.

yeah but thats not how its supposed to work

ppc does 10 damage heat 10 and range 18(by my calc thats 900m)
erppc does  damage 10  heat 15 and range 23 (1150m)
the clan erppc does damage 15 heat 15 range 23 and weights 1 ton less

generally one ppc shouldnt diffre to much from another, at leist not to the extent of the diffrence between an ac2 and ac20

I actually like how there's side effects to certain weapons, I just wish there was more. I wish that gauss cannons woul knock back or stagger it's target or the ac20spun the enemny mech around.  MW4 had it and I kind of miss it.  The best part was when an atlas would attack a light mech and knock it over and it would have to get back up. Here's hoping to the next patch

Thats in CBT I assume. You can't base MWLL completly on CBT otherwise the balance would suck for an online game :( Not that the PPC in general need a bit of a tweaking still.

The torso rocking in MW4 was annoying as hell and was a way too compensate for what the game lacked in terms of strategy.. Being shot at by 3 mechs is bad enough without the level of firepower also making it impossible to respond.. By comparison the amount of torso rocking in this mod is pretty mild, the cockpit distortions from the ppc are far more of a handicap than the torso pitching around anyway..  Honestly its just a another skill that you have too master to get really good at this game.. The fact that piloting and gunnery are separate aspects of the game which must be mastered and combined in order to be effective is one of the things I really like about this game, torso pitching included..
