modify HUD
« on: March 25, 2010, 05:23:54 PM »
Will it be possible for community mebers to modify their own HUDs?  Change reticules, etc...  Personally, I'd like to put the range to whatever I have targeted next to my reticule, rather than in the lower left corner...

This is not something you will be able to do due to engine limitations.

I'd really really love to switch the two radar displays.  It must be an eye dominance thing but I get way more information from the right display yet always look at the left one by default and have to consciously look for the right one.

Well... that shouldn't be an issue I guess as long as you think of it as of making a mod to mod - so creating own interface based on current one.

Only problem that might happen is the anti-cheat protection which likely will make you unable to play MWLL with your new interface.

If someone is capable of re-Flashing the HUD and integrating that with the back end, they should be on the dev team.

Good point! Actionscript 2, Flash and C++ skills are required for that :D

Well... I know both AS (2 better, but I made sites in AS3 as well) and Flash, but I have no idea how it all works in Crysis... and I hardly know C++ (had this at university, although it was way too long ago) so... I'm useless. :-X

Im pretty sure range to target is next to reticule anyway.. if you point your xhair at the ground somewhere it tells you the distance. Just cant remember which number it is. You also get compass direction under the crosshair, which is v useful for giving target locals.

torso twist on your reticle would be real useful.

...not really. I'd swap it with heat indicator anytime.

target range... not just the range of whatever you're looking at ;)

Nah it is Redvan, you can point at ground at itll say how far in meters, im always scanning ridge lines and stuff thinking "right if an enemy mech pops up on the ridge line, am I in LRM/Gauss/ERL range?"

Unless i've somehow got my hands on some kindof super hud, because I know some people have issues with seeing certain elements of the hud at times.

Hang on, i'll dig around for a screeine

Or are you saying you want a distance to the target youve got locked next to your aim point? oh well whatever, i've gone and done this hud explanation pic now so I might as well put it up lol ;)

Also I think torse twist indicator being on map is helpful enough, coz you get an overview of which way your gonna move and which way your looking in comparison to the map

That indicator under the reticule should actually be a twist angle; the left number is the torso pitch, bottom should be the torso yaw.  I mistakenly said it was a heading indicator when it was implemented and it has never been changed.  Oops.

Prefer it as a heading indicator tbh, makes it easier to call out targets =)
