Who needs four small topics when you have numbered lists =|

  • I only remember this happening on Extremity, but I've seen it multiple times: BA "landsharking" just underneath the terrain, when they should be running on the surface. I suspect this to be related to being able to rotate in the "zero-g" style, with X or C. I've also noticed at least one or two cases where an affected BA was sideways when JJing, after coming up from underground -- and they seem to ignore laser damage to where their body appears to be (although it's really hard to tell sometimes).
  • A separate incident: there was a BA who I think was using a speed hack. Zipping around fast, I'd heard a report of him firing missiles every couple seconds (can't verify firsthand), and the lag prediction being worse than useless -- whack'a'BA-on-crack, teleporting seemingly randomly all over the place, several times a second, within maybe a 10-20m radius of presumably his true position. Dunno if anything can be done about that, but thought I'd throw it out there.
  • My fears were confirmed yesterday when someone showed up with the name NO DRIVER (this being the name attached to targeted empty vehicles).
  • Your description of the official server makes it sound strong. But even after toning it back from 32 to 24 players, it still suffers from significant warp-lag, though the pings seem fine and the load time is wow. So I was wondering if perhaps having a high server framerate is a bad thing, in that the increased framerate leads to bandwidth consumption increasing to inappropriate levels, leading to packets dropping (particularly pronounced on more distant vehicles, which I take to be an optimization attempt, but which makes LTAs a complete crapshoot).

Oh, hey, while we're sort of talking about NO DRIVER but not really about this,,, think it'd be possible to have Mechs go neutral in the case that they were shot up, ditched, and then stolen? Having a BA jump in a near-dead abandoned hostile Mech to pop of a few shots is pretty much a horrible idea right now, as you not only deprive your team of the kill points, but pretty much give them to the enemy. At least if it went neutral its points would be up for grabs if/when you ditched it.

Exceptions: disconnects, at least if in good health; if it gets repaired. Alternative: award kill points to thief.

Regarding "NO DRIVER" - You either have to have a rather weak sense of humour (If for 'teh lulz') or be an irredeemable worthless scumbag (If you actually believe it'll give you a tactical advantage) to do that.

other than that.. just shoot every enemy mech you see ;D

You still get points for it, and if it's some moron trying to be sly you might get him to twitch :P

Use the Topics already created for that. You are cluttering this Board making it utterly impossible for anyone to obtain the data they want!!!

This is due to the Player being given a wrong coordinate by the server or at times the client observing the Player. This may be caused by lag or latency issues.

That's a game exploit (since abandoned assets have that designation) and should be avoided by any Players. Give the Player the option to change his Profile name to a unique name or simply ban the Player from the server.

I agree with a kill points going to the thief. In ToS or similar modes with limited income, hijacking a mech could be a reward by itself, but for SA the rest of the points for hijacked mech just disappears for the team, who's BA stole a mech. Moreover, enemy team could score points by destroying that(usually already damaged) mech, so a reward for hijacker is a good idea. Neural mechs aren't good idea IMO, as fighting a hijacked mech should be rewarded normally.

I noticed this today too. That guy was shooting missiles like crazy, teleporting around while other BA looked fine and he just never seemed to run out of jumpjet juice.
His name was Bombeiros and some number after that on the Boss server. He also liked tking right after spawning, but that's not relevant here...

Warping of assets seems to be a distance related issue in my experience as well.

I was right on top of him. His BA teammates didn't warp :/

I'm not precluding the possibility of two separate issues with similar symptoms.

Correct that was his name and he was using a hack of some sorts, I had wondered how long the Anti-cheat: NO servers could get away with it but there you have it, and it wasn't confined to extremity, I saw him doing the same thing on Inferno.. endless jumpjets, constant stream of missiles, nearly* impossible to hit with anything but a partisan prime, I did manage to pop him outta the air with that after some difficulty.

Not relevant to the topic, but a few days ago I saw a guy called YES DRIVER...

Edit: Could that be a hack/glitch to the Crysis alien level unlimited booster you have for getting around in the zero gravity?

To me it seemed more like a generic speed hack that operates by increasing the time reported as elapsed from some sort of GetTime() call to the OS. Just by virtue of him running and shooting faster than normal. I suppose it's possible he modified these values independently in game files, but why stop there? He could have turned BA-SSRMs into a weapon that fires as fast as he can click, rather than just somewhat faster.

Though I didn't see him using endless JJ. Not sure that a generic speed hack explains that, but can't comment on what I didn't see.

YES DRIVER would probably be me.  ::)

There is a legitimate player called NO DRIVER. He doesn't hack... and isn't particularly note-worthy.

As for speed hacks in general - it was just a matter of time. I've seen a guy constantly speed hacking on Team Fortress 2 on a "VAC secured" server. I guess we need server admins to start banning hackers.
