Yes... damnit i WANT TERRAIN CONTROL.. NOW and PERFECT.... forget it i want it yesterday !!!!!!  :D

But seriously a more strategic game mode is severely needed.  (guess i don't need to tell that anyone, the devs surely the least)
I missed good game modes from the first time i joined a game. But I understand the problem. Either get the open beta sooner or wait for a more feature rich beta another year or so....

more optimization would be helpful. THe ctd will send any casual visitor to this game running . It is also quite, quite, quite a buzzkill if one is relaxing bob marley style.
I know the devs will get accolades up the wazzoo as rightly deserved, i just want to have a nice big fat playerbase by the time its released. Like 200 online at any given time.

Optimisation and crash resolution are two different things.

To resolve crashes, we need to have specific repro steps and/or logging that shows the errors.  This can be problematic to obtain as some crashes do appear to be completely random.  And to be fair, some of the crashes that users are encountering are coming from Crysis itself, not the mod (we see this in the logs).  Crysis is not exactly known for its inherent stability.

We are constantly optimising features of the mod as we discover them to be an issue.  In general optimisation can help with some specific issues that users have due to hardware limitations, but the other side of this is that there are certain requirements that must be met to play the mod to the fullest extent.  If someone has an nVidia 7600GS and is complaining that the mod is performing poorly, what can really be done?  I already run into this when designing the audio presentation for the game.  We have so many assets in the game that can produce sounds simultaneously that it is extraordinarily difficult to "live within" the 32 channel polyphony of most onboard sound chipsets.  I do my best to optimise the soundscape for 32 channels, but in my mind I know that I'm really designing for at least 64 channels to properly experience MWLL.

Interesting!

I will buy a 64 channel sound card if you're saying that it will improve the aural experience of MWLL (...?)

Random tidbits I've noticed:

I've seen a "TC-Marshes" and a "TC-Enkeladus(?)", which leads me to believe that Terrain Control will be available on some (if not all) of the SA maps, as well as having possibly unique TC-only maps.

As for that interesting word "Enkeladus", google-fu has revealed several possible definitions:
1) "Enkelados": A Gigantes, a child of Gaia in ancient Greek mythology.  Could also refer to the area in Greece in which Enkelados spent his time, or the area where he met his demise.
2) "Enceladus": The 6th moon of Saturn.
3) "Enkelados": A Gigas in FFXI.

I don't know if TC-Enkeladus is an official map, but if it is, it'd be interesting to see what it actually is.

Good findings, Snowball! As for SA maps for TC, I doubt it. I think TC_Marshes is more of a similarly-themed map, rather than the same one. But then again, mech hangars could be capturable, so you could be right.

Wow... nice list! Hehehe. Though I have no idea how it's related to the map itself.  ???

That could be true, but I was thinking that it could be an expansion of the Marshes we currently play on in SA.  The devs did say that they had to scale down some maps from what was originally planned (Clearcut pops into my mind), so it could be that the TC versions of the maps are the "full-scale" versions, and that SA-Marshes could be a slightly modified area on the "full-scale" TC-Marshes.

Also, I spotted an FFA-GladiatorPit.  Pretty self-explanatory there.

Wow... nice list! Hehehe. Though I have no idea how it's related to the map itself.  ???
Thanks!  Google did most of the work though.  As for map ideas, I can gather quite a few (most of this will be completely random speculation).  We'll ignore definition 3 for now, as I doubt that has any relevance.

Looking at definition 1, it could be a:
  • "Temple" or "Greek" themed map: Greece and Greek references, duh.
  • "Peninsula" or "Mediterranean" themed map: Enkelados possibly spent his time in Pallene, a peninsular region in Greece that borders the Mediterranean sea.
  • "Volcanic" map: it's said the Enkelados was slain and buried under Mt. Etna on Sicily, an active volcano.

Definition 2 brings up these possibilities (running off a space theme):
  • A space-themed map like Extremity which takes place on the surface of Enceladus itself.
  • Possibly an orbital or surface space station, or perhaps a large ship.

I think it's interesting to note that the moon Enceladus is actually quite small; it's one seventh the size of our moon, its diameter is smaller than the length of the British Isles, and its surface area is slightly larger than Texas.  Isn't random speculation fun?

nooo these littel tid bits make my anticipation grow even more!

No kidding.  Thank god the mod is fun as-is or I'd probably go mad from waiting.
