Thought experiment time: Imagine for a moment that you are games developer CCP.

What happens when you mix...

Planetside
Battlefield
The MAG
EVE Online
and Call of Duty together?

Isn't that the game hardcore EVE players bitched about, because it'll give console FPS players some effect on the larger EVE universe?

Yeah, the general EVE population is a little torn over Dust. The major alliances and some of the more experienced players fear that it will let console gamers have too much control over their universe, which I can sympathize with. However, lots of the younger players are eager, because it lets them help out their corp in more ways.

Frankly, I think it will flop. They are entering into a market with direct competition from titles such as Modern Warfare 2, Bad Company 2, Battlefield, Halo, all sorts of shooters. Give an ADD kid a crash course in programming, and the first thing he will make is a shooter. So for Dust to really have any effect on EVE, it will have to be a fairly large success in the console market, which is a tall order.

Personally, I am a little excited, but mainly cause I like the looks of the game from what we have seen. Who knows, maybe it will be a success. Cross those fingers.

If there isn't a PC release, I will be buying a 360 for this.

There won't be a PC release at... release...

They "might" (Read: Probably) make one at some point.

Strangely enough, I have no problem with this. While some games released only on Console I would decry as simply "Casual rubbish", CCP wants to make a deep, engaging and involving game - and I think thats what they're going to do. It might not be as popular with the "Console 'Tards" because of that, but well... hopefully the "Shooty shooty action super happy fun time yay" part will balance that out.

Besides, it's been proven beyond a doubt that controllers are just fine for running around shooting people xD

Yeah, it's not a high priority xD

I've got a 360, but it's Red Ringed... though I hear thats a simple matter of a lead-free solder being used in the circuit boards, which melts at a lower temperature than the 'real' stuff... so its possibly fairly easy to repair~

Oh also: When the heck did I get Karma? xD

I know a guy who buys red-ringed 360's on Ebay, fixes them up, and resells them, modded on demand.
So yeah, not too hard to do, but if you've still got warranty, you're probably better off just sending it in.

That's the problem, I don't xD

I'm fairly "Technically minded", have a CCNA (and the Comptia A+), and my brother is an Electrician... So I'm probably in a good position to do it ;D

Well, I'm not totally sure what the guy does to fix it, but installing a better cooler is definitely one thing.
You can probably even find some guides on the net.

I'm more excited for the potential of the game. If the game actually ties in well with EVE.. it could change the face of gaming.

CCP is just incredible, always pushing the envelope.
