Yeah, the general EVE population is a little torn over Dust. The major alliances and some of the more experienced players fear that it will let console gamers have too much control over their universe, which I can sympathize with. However, lots of the younger players are eager, because it lets them help out their corp in more ways.
Frankly, I think it will flop. They are entering into a market with direct competition from titles such as Modern Warfare 2, Bad Company 2, Battlefield, Halo, all sorts of shooters. Give an ADD kid a crash course in programming, and the first thing he will make is a shooter. So for Dust to really have any effect on EVE, it will have to be a fairly large success in the console market, which is a tall order.
Personally, I am a little excited, but mainly cause I like the looks of the game from what we have seen. Who knows, maybe it will be a success. Cross those fingers.
