Who says the devs will suddenly stop? >_>

These days just because a game is "Version 1.0" and is considered "Complete" doesn't mean that it sits and stagnates for all time :P

Ah fair sir, you fail to lend credence to the definition of FINAL; that word is a derivative of Fini' or in our simple english venacular FINISH = the end.

I thought about the term "final release" for some time now. For me the game is great the way it is right now. The Devs did a great job and invested more heartblood into the project, than any other developer (be it from activision or microsoft) ever did.
For me the game is the best mechwarrior until now. And for me all futurus mwll-releases are just updates.

"You keep using that word, I do not think it means what you think it means."

Here's some definitions for you to help set you straight on programming versioning lingo:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Software_release_life_cycle

Quote
Alpha

The alpha phase of the release life cycle is the first phase to begin Software testing. In this phase, developers generally test the software using white box techniques. Additional validation is then performed using black box or gray box techniques, by another testing team. Moving to black box testing inside the organization is known as alpha release.

Alpha software can be unstable and could cause crashes or data loss.

The alpha phase usually ends with a feature freeze, indicating that no more features will be added to the software. At this time, the software is said to be feature complete.

Quote
Beta

"Beta" is the software development phase following alpha, named after the Greek letter beta. It generally begins when the software is feature complete. The focus of beta testing is reducing impacts to users, often incorporating usability testing. The process of delivering a beta version to the users is called beta release.

The users of a beta version are called beta testers. They are usually customers or prospective customers of the organization that develops the software, willing to test the software for free or for a reduced price.

Beta version software is likely to be useful for internal demonstrations and previews to select customers. Some developers refer to this stage as a preview, a prototype, a technical preview (TP) or as an early access.

Now these definitions aren't perfect, but they more or less indicate that the definition of a beta to differentiate it from an alpha is that its more stable, its mostly feature complete, and its generally open to more people for testing to solve some of the issues that are tough to see with a more limited scope of testers.  MWLL is a beta.

In that case, very few games released within the last few years are "Final" - and MWLL will probably not be "Final" for some years to come.

I had assumed OP had meant "Final" as in "Not Beta" :P

At some point the MWLL project will reach a point where we are "not BETA" anymore, but I could not tell you when that is anticipated to be.

We have a list of features (which won't be shared) that we are whittling away at with each patch release.  Unfortunately (or fortunately?) this list tends to grow as we add new ideas to it.

I've really taken the time to explore all that MWLL has to offer this last week and it makes for a truly varied experience.  The game has amazing depth to it.  I'm excited for the next update.

For sure it's "fortunately". :D Game is fun as it is, though new ideas that are born every month make it even more amazing!

Well said my fair friend and I wish to add that I find your closing statement regarding life to be very refreshing and a steadfast reminder to enjoy life to it's fullest - it is all too brief and one never knows when the end is near.

The question is: Will there be a big chunk of content added to make the final release a huge event?

I guess it'd happen somewhere after the point where there would be no update for half a year and 90% of players would leave because of boredom and bugs.  :P
