Decals used to display damage in a unique fashion.

Is it possible in Cryengine to apply damage decals with weapon hits?

Been looking at making up some AC/PPC/MGun and Laser damage effects in ZBrush (really easy to do in ZBrush) and exporting them to Cryengine as decals, with the thought that they could (if there's no obvious reason why it wouldn't work) be used to place the relevant decal on a vehicle at the point where the weapon hit.

Hoped for result: bullet holes running over machines, laser scars and large hole-like gauss & AC damage etc. each collection of scars and holes would be nique to the damage taken, so infinitely variable.

Another question, can you tie particle effects to decals in Cryengine?

Hoped for results: at 50% armour levels sparks fly around the decals, imitating internal component damage the effect fading after X seconds, at 10% armour levels huge electrical drops of blood flow from the limb from then until it's destroyed etc.

I figured there'd be a quirk that'd stop it working, otherwise one of you guys would already have done it (fairly obvious idea TBH).

Thanks Sanman

That would have been an awesome idea if it had been possible :/

We experimented with applying dynamic damage decals to the animated 'Mech legs, but it turned MWLL into Crash-o-matic.

I'm sure there is a way to do it, but at the time we needed to move on with other aspects of development.

@Danger; thanks.

@KingLeer, thats a real pity, would have been amazing, thanks for filling me in on that, it's appreciated (I could have spent 3 months barking up the wrong tree otherwise...I've done it before).
