i'm wondering if i'm crazy, mwll stability.
« on: April 18, 2010, 02:00:21 AM »

ok, first my desktop was crashing ALL the time,,  took 4 to 6 loads to get into a game, crashed everywhere from after clicking mw 32 bit to loading into a map..   by the time I got my 2nd system and gave the first to my son, the desktop wasn't crashing ...  no, I didn't change anything..

New system...  after I got everything setup,,  I'd crash randomly while playing every 10 to 50 min...  tried a bunch of things before giving up and just hopn' that .3 would be more stable for this system.. but..  seems the crashes have stopped,, about a week ago *knocks on wood*

did the devs sneak in some AI that is self repairing?!?  :o

lol

maybe you updated your graphics drivers a week ago and that solved the crashing

I had stupid crash issues with 0.1.0. They slowly managed to disappear altogether. Then 0.2.0 came out and I've honestly yet to finish a round from start to finish without bluescreening, hard freezing, or more commonly, just CTDing.

As Sky_Walker cleverly suggested somewhere on the forum, clearing crysis shaders cache every time before launching MWLL would reduce the amount of crashes. Adding more RAM would also help a little.

Personally did the clear the cache test for a week and it didn't help with the crashes, and it would be near impossible to get more RAM shoved in a system than I've got running on my 32 bit and I experience crashes. The crashes won't make me stop playing the game   :D and they seem to come in waves;  :P I might get 2 - 3 crashes a game for awhile and then I'll go a whole week without a crash.
It's randomness is frustrating to say the least but for me CACHE deleting and more RAM did not change the crashing. On another note I crashed randomly in Crysis when I was playing that game but when it went to Crysis WARS the crashing stopped, maybe it's the engine and not the fuel that's causing the crashes.

I found the most stable way to play is 64 bits in dx9 mode with at least 2 gigs of mem.

But then i'm the total exception in that i've only crash maybe a hand full of times EVER.

I am LUCKY if I can get through one round without hard-freezing or the Java Binary stopping working. This is the ONLY game this happens in so I know it is not my rig. I have the latest drivers and am completely updated and I reg. clean my computer every week as well as check for fragmentation (It is always less then 1 percent).

They said in the 2.0 release there were some crash fix issues. This has not rung true with me. This is a VERY unstable game. Sometimes I can get through a round, maybe two, but not often. It can be very frustrating.

32 Bit Version

Vista Ultimate 32
Q6600 O.C.'d to 3.6/1600fsb
4 Gigs DDR2 800mhz
8800GTS (G92) 512
Audigy Fatality Platinum sound card
2x 300 GB Veloci-Raptors
PC Power and Cooling Quad 750 Power Supply
etc. (more but should not effect gaming...capture card, extra hd's DVD-RW) etc.

I see that my vid card mfr. is still tweaking for Crysis Wars performance. I hope the switchover is sooner than later.

well, I'm running rather stable atm on both of my rigs..

desktop is a compaq P amd 64 with win xp 32, 6800 and 4gb ram   run mostly med settings.   had crazy issues with game loading for a while but seems to have cleared up..  that system doesn't crash in game.

Laptop.  Alienware m17x   win 7 64, dx10    4750  4gbram.   I run on high and very high.   had ramdom crashes while playing, tried deleting shaders folder for a while, but din't help, so stopped doing that..  and for the last week has been mostly stable with maybe 3 crashes to dt.

there are so many variables and diff systems out there..  without good logs on the various crashes the devs can't track down what might be an issue for one system and not for another.   perhaps they have some folks running logs to find them.

AFAIK one of possible cause of crashes was having the sound card separate, not the one on motherboard. (just don't ask what's the reason for this).
Could you possibly shut it down via control panel and try to play the game again? Or uninstall it's drivers and use the sound card on the MoBo.
(remark: spot that only significant difference between your and whitedrake setup is the sound cart, which he hasn't got at all).

Though I'm not 100% sure if this was a problem, but I heard something about such sound cards causing problems....  ::)

Nah, that's bs. If anything, the drivers for your soundcard suck, this has nothing to do with being onboard or not.

Crysis is a very CPU demanding game, I would unoverclock that cpu and then see how it plays.

That CPU is already over clocked.  I'm using a core 2 do at 3.0GHz and it plays fine.  To me it looks like he needs a new vid card to get more fps.

But i'm still wondering what he's talking about with the java.  sounds like there might be junk running in the background.

A Q6600 runs at 2.4 default if I recall, to 3.6 is a hefty OC.
Just saying even solid OC's will start crashing if you run really intensive programs on them, most games are only GPU intensive.
Just be aware that large overclocks should never be ruled out as a possibility with crysis.

Don't know if this helps, but I have to run Crysis "clean" or it crashes virtually everytime - meaning I to kill basically all "user" processes.  I stop almost everything that isn't "System".   I'm on WinXP and I've never bothered to analyze which particular process(es) are at fault; but, none of them are that important anyway.
