i am waiting for an update to the controls so that i can aim with my joystick and turn with my keyboard, cause right now plagued by the "turning requires tapping a or d super super fast" problem.  Trying to twist and turn on the same joystick leads to drunken aiming, and playign with a mouse doesn't feel right.  That i has work to do

A few of my buddies stopped playing because they really disliked the balance and variants. Let's hope I can bring them back with the next patch :/

Baffled me how quickly people loose heart tbh, I'm as addicted to this game as I ever was with CS, Natural Selection, PR, and all the other multiplayer classics.

Maybe the leagues need to get kicked into gear before anyone starts looking at this seriously?

Yep, this one for sure would bring some good interest :)

Another thing, looking more forward, would be customization options - whatever it'd be by adding selectable munitions, decals, or finally: Mech Lab. People get attached to whatever they made themselves :)

And finally *soon to be* gameplay modes would improve the situation for sure :) all in all not everyone enjoy the team deathmatch. ;)

Double-quote.

Realistically, there is nothing to do in MWLL at the moment. Running around shooting people sandbox style only stays interesting for a little while.

Once league-friendly gamemodes are implemented the devs can let the League communities take MWLL and run with it :v

At least one of my Clanmates has stopped playing because of hacking and another because of real life commitments.

I haven't run into hacking personally and hope not to.

This thread gets made 3 months after every update.  It's been my experience that 3 months is the periodicity of committment of average gamer to average games online.  Most of the content has been consumed. That's the issue.  The biggest challenge in development these days is that gamers consume faster than developers can create.  This mod is especially challenged in that regard because most of the players that will play this game are actually testing it as content is released unlike a commercial release where the pool of testers is actually much smaller and the concentration of players is really high at release with a bunch of new content for the new players.  I wonder if a developer wasn't constrained by things like, oh, actually having to code the thing, what the perfect rate of content release would be to keep people playing indefinitely.  I'd say Blizzard has nearly perfected this but I might argue that once a year is a bit too slow.  All the sports games come out annually but they don't really bring much by way of new mechanics.  Just new players and flashier graphics.  That's a real gravvy train right there.

I'm not worried.  Also, Clan Smoke Jaguar is actively seeking scrimmages to keep things competitive during the interim!  Seek us out.

I put the game aside until the next patch comes along. I still check the forums daily for updates.

But don't despair. the First few versions of Counter-strike were a ghost town too.

Really, the current game mode is just a sandbox with no real structure. Teams can easily 'win' tactically but 'lose' scorewise, and that doesn't make for a fun game. I think once the new game modes come out (soon, please!) we'll see an explosion of new and returning players.

This is where the community comes in - in the example of Leagues, they are an outside group that will quite happily organise events and generate interest in MWLL for months to come, with no further input required from the devs (Other than things they were doing anyway - see: MWLL).

I would say it's game mode, game mode, game mode.  I love the game, a lot.  And I'm getting quite bored of Solaris Arena.  Once there are other game modes, I highly doubt I'll ever go back to it.  It's just too simple and doesn't offer any sort of rewarding goals IMO.  Bought BFBC2 yesterday though, because I can't keep shooting it out with the same people without goals endlessly.

I think population will pick up more from game modes than any other option/feature, including the mechlab.

When the beta was still fresh I was playing almost every night for a couple hours or more, but now I only get on every few to several days.  New gamemodes, maps, balancing, etc  will be helpful for lengthening the retention period but it does prove just how hard it can be to keep people playing any one game once they feel they've experienced the full extent they are willing to experience.  At least the beauty of this mod is that we know there's going to be updates every couple or few months usually so there's a reason to come back to it regularly.
