But many players are damn happy that there is no flying stuff on marshes (or the damn great SA_Palisades by Salvatoris).
On the otherhand I would also welcome a pure aero-map. Perhaps set up high in the mountains or an ultra deep canyon. Or in an asteroide field... (2 dropships fighting each others -> a place for BAs as well)

Ok, its just my opinion, but I don't wanna have each map designed for all kinds of units. I would prefer to have some unique maps.
But maybe this kind of maps is a job for the community mappers...

No seriously SA_Void is just THAT! Two dropships have become derelect in space im working out the second ships hull and then its decks now that SA_Poseidon is in a decent beta place.

Also im uploading Poseidon right now to a few file servs.

I've spent the last three game sessions dialing in tbolting.  It's powerful (not as difficult as the LT for something that's relatively hard) but it's rather boring and if there is any partisan in the area you'll probably die after delivering your payload.  I think aero has it's place.  I'm not nearly as annoyed with it now that I'm learning it. VTOLs need help still however.

You guys are also running a map i cant find, i dont remember which one, but its not in the thread.
I hate Aircraft in this game, if I die from one, I leave.  I wish I could just fire back at them from a Mech.

hey buz,

yes we do host a few maps that arn't ''released''  yet..    testing sa poseidon.    you might run into us running one of our training maps too, which are not distributed to other units.


if you see a map, check the community created content forum to look for it and feel free to dl and do some testing, even if the server is empty.

if it's one of our training maps, just ponder how were drilling for pounding other units :) :)

Which blatantly breaks balance.

If you assume air assets are currently balanced... which is debatable.  I think at least a few people prefer to play without air assets.   In the absence of an ability to limit vehicle types per round, I believe a few maps with no air assets are a welcome addition to the game.

Palisades is too small for air assets, especially since it has no background terrain outside the mission boundaries.  It was a learning experience, the first thing I ever did with the editor.  Any future maps I make will have room for air assets.

these maps seem to be mech only maps. No apc's so there no deploying BA's except from ejections and long walks from the hangers. Lt's are out, which is ok in some situations, but when ur on paradise and all the enemy mechs are on 1 hill by they're base you can do enough damage to break them up or for a mech to survive, the no-mans land of open field between the hills, get close enough to deal enough damage to bloody their nose. Air assets would be nice even if it's just VTOL's on some of these maps.

You can't get the BA or the Osiris on these maps.  I'll try to update my SA maps after we get the next patch out.

Whitedrake, could you make a single archive with all maps? Some people are lazy/stupid and I need a single link I can point them to and tell them to simply unpack it into their Crysis folder ::)

well, we have it stickied so the map makers can update the maps and if you run into a server running a map version that is newer than yours you know where to go to update your map.  If we were with warhead then it wouldn't matter, but lumping all the maps together into a single pack would only be good for a bit and it would be rather large atm.

DL and unzipping them to the sa folder isn't hard.

now for the DVD's that i keep depositing into the retail stores...  I've a nice cover printed, with instructions on install.  includes cry patches and hotfix. mwll, actionmapper, and all the player maps to date..   I live in San Diego and work in the bay area so I'm seeding both places.
