Need for Speed World
« on: May 31, 2010, 03:15:44 PM »
Just heard about this from a mate, I'm personally interested, always been a fan of the NFS game franchise, especially Most Wanted and Carbon.  Anyone in the beta for it?

Yeah, and if you check the NFS World forums about the starter package deal you'll see posts by me and others rioting over the limitations. Paying 20 bucks on a game that WAS advertised free to play to get past level 10 is ridiculous.

Mmm, okay.  Is that 20 bucks a one off or a monthly cost?  I can see myself getting into it only if it's paying for the initial game, I'm not big on subscription gaming...

One payment, but think about it... "Starter Pack." 100% sure there will be a "Racer Pack" and so on. Not to mention it's not a good game really, it's the same game world from NFS Most Wanted. Spend your $20 elsewhere. :D

High Stakes was the best, then everything went downhill.  8)

NFS 3 and High Stakes were awesome, Porsche Unleashed was another great title (loved the 930 Turbo 3.3 Coupe!), but I am hearing nothing very positive about this upcoming title.  The biggest thing I miss are all the awesome tracks in the old ones by Rom Di Prisco and co.  THAT is some wicked racing music...I still listen to it while playing Wipeout HD.

I have to admit, though, while I prefer the exotics and supercars over tuned Hondas, Underground had a cool feel to it as long as you picked something rear wheel drive...good sensation of speed, at least.

Personally, I would love to see them recreate a combination of NFS 3, 4, and 5 in HD with computer-killing graphics.  8)

As much as I love realism in my racing games, Need for Speed was never about realism...it was about hauling ass on the street with cars we could never afford, police pursuit, crashes, awesome music, etc.  It was always an arcade experience, so I cannot say I worried about the physics.

The GTR series, on the other hand, is my cup of tea when I get an itch for realism...I would highly recommend it if you have never had the opportunity to try it. :)

Have, and I gotta say I wasn't happy with it. LFS is my cup of tea. <3

Well, I can only verify three types of cars, but the rear wheel drive, NA Porsche's, the BMW M3 GTR (E46 generation), and the BMW Z3 Coupe (E36/7) all drive exactly like they do in real life. :)

I do miss having the traffic to bob and weave around, though...not to mention, the cops...  8)

EDIT: Typo.
