MW5...
« on: June 01, 2010, 08:29:03 PM »
So it looks like that stir up over a year ago by Smith and tinker has never had a single follow up release of any kind of information... Is it dead? Is it on a back burner? Anyone have any information ? And if you try to say its tied up in litigation because of the Warhammer I will smack you...

Yep, they got around the legal crap (what they did no one really knows, either paid for a license, dropped the mechs in question or altered them).  We still have no idea if they picked up a publisher, but it's almost 100% they can.  They're in heads down dev mode now.  Most news release / press hype doesn't start till about 6 months before release.

I'd say give it will about Nov/Dec before we hear any news.  It'll be a shock if we hear anything at e3 or the penny expo.

I cant relly put my excitement into words when I heard about this gama and saw thw video the first time.
I'm still very eager to see this.
So the sceptic and pessimist in me have one question.
Has this been confirmed in some way somewhere?
I know I may be asking alot and some stupid question, but I really want to see this game come out.

It better be on PC!  I know there was tons of talk making it "console" friendly.

Well they are using a modified version of the UnReal Engine which can develop for both PC and consoles. They chose the UnReal engine because Piranha Games Studio had recent experience in developing the Transformers movie video game using the UnReal Engine.

Very nice engine to be using. I expect it to run pretty well on most PC's.

Still worries me that it will be cross platform... I forsee that as the one thing that may damage that game for the Btech community.

I'd prefer if it's a simulation, but I'd still buy it if it was like MechAssault. I don't care what you all say about MA, it was fun as hell.

"Concentrate on the moment, each moment is its own reality. It has a particular thisness. You can't predict, but you can explain. Or try. If you are observant, and lucky, you can say, this is why this is happening! It's very interesting!"

I know the more basement-dwelling among you hated MechAssault, but I thought it was great fun. Some of the best fun I had on the original Xbox. MA and MW can't be compared, they're two different games.
I was a bad-ass VTOL pilot in MA2  ;D

Are they going to make something newer lol ::)

And I would like the crossplatform if it keeps up the high quality expected of a MW release, I think it being available on Xbox may be good just because it would add a lot of players for multiplayer, thus more clans and units...thus more leagues...thus PLANETARY!!! :P

In short in matters battle armor, aerospace and omnimech

Even if it is a cross-platform game, there's just about 0 chance of cross-platform play.  So if you're a PC gamer, the only thing a console version offers is a shittier overall game, as it's toned down to fit the console gamer crowd and hardware.

Didn't you read the blog about how horribly unfair it is to pit PC players against people playing on 200 dollar consoles?

Go read the (only) developer interview on IGN. I would link but I'm using a school computer with a filter and I can't find an unblocked proxy. They had some pretty encouraging things to say, and it sounds more like a PC-to-console port than vice versa. They want to do a lot of innovative stuff that's never been done with a Mechwarrior game before, like urban combat in destructable environments, using information warfare, and adding RPG elements to allow for specialization in certain weight classes or chassis.
