0.3.0 - dissatisfied

It's only been a few hours ago since I started playing and I'm bored already.

I'm not really sure why, it's a combination of factors I guess. One thing's for sure, killing stuff is fun and it's a lot harder to kill in 0.3.0 that it has been before. A lot of the mechs have had their firepower reduced and armor has been boosted across the board for all assets. Overall, the game doesn't feel as fast paced as it did before.

Now, on to the next thing:

Madcat Prime is broken again, why did you do that? After all, it was you who made it so good in the first place! It's my favorite mech you know. With the pulse lasers back in place, it's heat is pretty much unmanageable once again. And with the increased LRM lock on time, a passive enemy can hit me twice and be back in cover laughing before I get a chance to launch missiles. I mean, the new lock on time for LRMs is an interesting feature, but it's killing one of the most iconic mechs in battletech. So it should go.

Anyway, I know you put a lot of work into this version and I appreciate it, so l'll praise you for this:
Amazing new infravision!
Mauler Prime carries extra ammo!
The new launcher doesn't have a sound playing in the background anymore!
So much new usefull information is visible on the map now.
Loki-A variant is awesome!
+other things I can't remember now

wait for more people to get their claws bloodied, people are probably still adjusting to the changes and the new goodies.. I know I'm still about 20-30 minutes from finishing downloading so nobody has had the pleasure of dying at my feet :)

also try crouching for improved missile lock time

To be fair, I think some of your points may be valid.  But keep in mind that the LRMs lock-on at different rates depending on the target's ECM/radar.

I hear ya. I know, there are two rates. Slightly increased lock on vs. an active target. And a really long lock on time vs. a passive or ECM carrying target. One's a slight problem, the other is a big one.

Yeah, funny picture, awesome! I like those! Oh, and like I said, I've been playing for a few hours already so I've gotten pretty far in adjusting. While you haven't played a second so, hey, why are you even posting here if you have no idea what you're talking about?! ^^

Constructive criticism, defect reporting, and suggestions are all desirable, but to say as a headline you're "dissatisfied" seems counterproductive.

Also I playtested the alpha a bit ;)

But I can't help it, it's just how I really feel about 0.3.0 right now.

Rally realize you just told a dev that obviously has played the new patch every week since the last patch that he hasn't played it at all

Give the new balacning a chance. We did that on purpose so that there is actually some fighting, and you don't die in the first 5 seconds of the fight, after walking for 3 minutes from the base to the battle zone.
There comes a point where the talking must stop, and people have to do actual work.

I say it's pretty good that his only complaint in that whole post is that ECM is working as intended.  I think we all knew we would hear a few "My favorite mech isn't as OP as is was before" posts.  It is a bummer than a bunch of people spent countless hours working on content he could be bored with in one hour, but I think most reasonable people will see that as a reflection on him and not the mod.  I also don't think many people are going to added survivability and longer mech battles as a change for the worse.  To read his post you might think the only change we made was to remove the "IWIN" button from his missile-boat.

It's wierd... I seem to remember seeing Capper in the playtesting sessions, but I must be wrong because this guy says he hasn't even played the update yet.   ::)

Only thing im not happy about is the FPS and crash issues.

ALso the scoreboard doesnt seem to track damage fairly, you can do alot of damage to an enemy and get zero points for it.

Told it was a bug, but annoying non the less.

Yeah the score thing is rather annoying.  maybe we'll get a hotfix for it!

Really? From what I've played it seems completely awesome. The balance is far better than the last patch and the action is more intense. The changes promote brawling, which in turn increases the intensity of most fights. I guess I could see your dismay if you're all about the missile boating. Other than the scoreboard issue it has been nothing but pure awesome.

The sound effects... I love them.

I literally facepalmed when I read: "you have made my LRMs ineffective by adding in a lock-on delay for any target that is passive or has ECM"
 
After seeing months and months of thousands of posts decrying the overpowered nature of LRMs and players boating them, to see this response leaves me completely without words to express my disbelief.
