Hover and Jump shake
« on: June 13, 2010, 12:16:59 AM »
The Hover and and JJ use is just way to shaky.
Like seizure shaky. Cannot even be in the Hovers now...I get sick.   :o

Please take a look at this for a hotfix?

Thank you for the new beta!

The JJ's are unlikely to change. The Hovercraft shakiness is a bug we are looking into.

So do you devs want to make poptarting nonexistent? I can understand throwing off your aim to make it harder but jump jets in their current form don't have much use at all.

No use? They are much quicker and take you farther. They are great on maps with any sort of vertical element, and can even be used to surprise someone in the middle of battle. As for poptarting? No not nonexistent, just much harder to do, and less common.

I like the JJs now. Its hard to hit anything on the way up, but on the way down its more or less the same, which means that there is a decent window where you can see your opponent poping up but he can't return fire efficiently. It turns pop-tarting into more of a strategic maneuver than an actual method of combat.

My only complaint is the amount of heat buildup vs height/distance gained. Today I was on Inferno and felt very smart bringing a mech with JJs until the fighting started on higher ground in front of me and I couldn't jump high enough to get up and over the wall before taking the heat into the red and almost shutting down. Though that might just be Inferno.

I haven't had much chance to play yet, but did you guys add any thrust vectoring to the JJs?  In .2.0 I was never able to go more than about ten meters forward even if I hit the jets while running flat out... it just seemed to pop me straight up.

I wonder if it's the analog throttle and rudders...

JJ shaking seems a little overdone, but it does stabilize on the way down which is good enough to fire most weapons. BA shaking seems pointless though.

Really, there's just a lot of shakin' goin' on. Walking/running is pretty annoying now in some mechs.

I @#$(* love the JJ shake.  Now we just need the massive rapid-drop heavy feel of MW3 and I'll, god, I don't know WHAT I'll do.

Well in regards to mechs, the only one that has changed towards that direction is the Uziel, and thats mainly due to the cockpit structure. Many of the mechs have had their run animations smoothed out which at the same time smoothed out the cockpit view.

Jump Jets are more for maneuverability than for combat.

Seems way exaggerated for a engineered weapons platform from a future society of Mech warriors....imo
I mean too sharp of shaking.
I understand why there is shaking...just saying to much.
Its not like a Saturn rocket is going up...
Plus on the JJ for BA I can tell you that even our jet packs of today do not shake like this.
Pretty smooth actually...
The new mech bounces around like a ball....gives a headache.
Just constructive criticism intended.
Nothing more.

Balance first.

Balance says that Poptarding was over-used and way too powerful. Thus, a solution was made to balance it out. I feel the game is a lot better for it, because if I had to see another F*CKING POPTARDING HGAUSS HOLLANDER I was going to throat-punch someone through the internet.
New JJs are faaaaar superior.
"Mr. Churchill, you're drunk!"
"Indeed I am, madam. And you're ugly. The difference is in the morning I will be sober. You, however, will still be ugly."

SCIENCE!

lets not get into the whole "well it's the future so the technology... blah blah".  In reality biped war machines are FAR from efficient
