edit: Found it! It's under my documents/my games/crysis/cache

will try it later. Thanks for that hint.

I cleared my shader cache, unfortunately it didn't improve performance.

I believe I cleared the cache, but I didn't get much an improvement. Also, now the hangar is really buggy. Thanks.  :o

I've tried all the actionmaps.cfg stuff, the script to customize settings, installing 64-bit, and running in DX9 mode.  Nothing has resulted in improvements.  This is getting annoying...as it stands now if someone gets in close to me, I get such a low frame rate that I'm effectively unable to defend myself.

I've also experienced a framerate drop (Win 7 64bit). It is definitely not server-related. In addition to generally lower framerates, sometimes the screen will freeze up completely for 2-4 seconds.
I get this too.  It never happened before, and now happens seemingly at random - not correlated to how much is going on on my screen.

I've also noticed that something among these steps reduced the draw distance for mechs....I was getting Gaussed earlier by some vulture A at 950m, and the mech wasn't even rendering.  I sat my crosshairs where I saw the shots coming from, they turned red, but it wasn't until i closed to within 850m or so that the mech rendered.  ugggggh...any more ideas?

Didn't help me either.

1 question though - how should i set my post processing to get the best frame rate. I have Intel Pentium D 2.8 GHz Dual core on win 7 ultimate x64

Warning everyone! Deleting your shaders doesn't really help anything.

Here's what happens to me. I delete the cache, and then start MWLL. get in a game. FPS is bad. come out, check the cache again, and what do you know? the cache is back again. Because I have to use the CD with the mod it replenishes all messed up files.

And then, I delete the cache enough times, that when I start MWLL, an error comes up and says, Your MWLL files have been modded! Please restore them to play again!

Then I have to fully uninstall all the mod files including actionmaps, and reinstall. Rinse and repeat.

So is there a way to stop my cahce from just filling back up?

Please don't blame me for making a suggestion about the shaders.  I'm no expert on Crysis because I only bought it for MWLL. I do know that deleting the cache is not what gave you the "MWLL files have been modded" error. The cache will rebuild itself after you delete it, change certain settings, launch DX9 or DX10 for the first time, or load up a map for the first time. You will notice the rebuild happening because you will see a lot of yellow and green textures all over the map just after loading. The cache folder will always fill back up.

It's a lot like BF2 or BF2142, if you changed your graphics settings, shaders would be rebuilt. Except that in the BF games it builds the shader cache while the maps are loading.

I am not sure why deleting my shaders helped my FPS issue. I think it's because I mess around with the settings a lot and there is a bug somewhere. A bug that when I tone the settings down, it's still using some very high settings for certain things. I often max everything and add 8XAA just to run about the map taking screen shots. Then when I tone it back down to a get a "playable FPS rate" I notice that my FPS is not so good. Deleting the cache solves this for me every time. I usually change my settings then, hit apply. I then exit out of the game and proceed with deleting the shaders. Done this many times on two systems with the same result.

You may have accidentally deleted something in the mods/mwll folder for that error to come up.

It could be that 3.0 is causing some sort of performance hit but, I'm not seeing it.

Chalk me up as another suffering from halved framerates and random chop.

I've updated to the latest drivers and cleared out my shader cache.  I've even installed Cuban's CCC pack to try and reclaim a few FPS.

The mod is playable with 20 players or fewer, but anything more and performance starts to head south.

I'll fire up Fraps and post some hard numbers later.

GTX 280
Core 2 Quad Q9450
4GB DDR2
Vista 64bit

UPDATE:

Ok so I fire up Fraps and pulled some benchmarks.  Played one game on a server of 16 players.  Map was Thunder_Rift.

Apparently I managed a min/max of 1/99 somehow and averaged out at 37.65 FPS over the course of a single game. Now that in itself isn't so bad, if it were at all consistent, but it's anything but.  The framerate frequently dips as low as 12-20 FPS when the action gets hot, which is quite a hit to my average.

I manage some nice highs of 60-80 indoors, but that's to be expected.  When I'm just cruising around from A to B, it generally doesn't dip below 45.  But you'd expect the framerate to drop by 10, maybe 15 fps at the most when it all kicks off.  Instead, I end up losing more like 20-25 FPS, with the the occasional uber-stutter thrown in for good measure.

I'm running in DX10 mode, and naturally I've tried DX9, but haven't noticed much difference.  I think, if anything, DX9 may be offering inferior performance.  Strange.

Now granted I never benchmarked previous versions of the mod, so I don't have a strong basis for a comparison.  Is this release just that much more demanding?

My friend has almost the exact same thing, he says hes getting 20fps all the time, with all the settings to medium, he used to run almost all high with good fps. He tried DX9 mode and the fps was higher in the hanger, but almost EXACTLY the same when playing.

This does lead me to belive it's not something to do with the graphics per say, but something either eating ram, or CPU. Or the game is just f****d. I really don't think it's anything we can do, it's down to the MWLL programmers to fix this one.

I'm glad last hotfix pretty much fixed my FPS issue.

For me also DX10 has greater performance, so I guess Microsoft was right when saying that DX10 brings greater performance thanks to lower overhead on the application. ;)

As for the hints:
- Try to run game in 32bit mode instead of 64.
- check the troubleshooting
- Disable AA
- Lower particle effect count
- Lower geometry details
- Shut down all unneeded applications in system tray
- Try to disable sound (yea, it cuts a lot of gameplay experience :( but sometimes does help)

Tell us if anything helped - other folks might use it as well :)

No offense, but that's all very basic stuff, and I'm pretty sure I've done everything on that list, with the possible exception of disabling sound, because that's out of the question.  Also, last time I ran in 32bit mode, Crysis CTD'd halfway through a game.  I'm not going back down that road again.

I feel I should re-emphasize that performance was entirely acceptable prior to 0.3.0, and I see no real reason why that should change now, but it has.

Just played on a maxed out 32 player server and had to suffer framerates in the 20fps or lower range almost the entire time.  This simply wouldn't have been an issue in previous versions.

Can the devs please address this issue, which is clearly affecting more than a handful of your loyal fanbase?

Thanks.

Considering that some of us are actually seeing better framerates since 0.3.0 I can only imagine how hard it must be to figure out how to address this issue

I'm under the impression that the problem is in the render engine to which the devs do not have access to, which circles back to the cry engine not playing nice with ATI cards.

I could be totally wrong though.
