Well, its official...
« on: June 13, 2010, 11:04:00 PM »
My hatred for Crysis has officially surpassed my love for all things Mechwarrior.

After deleting my mwll folder as instructed and installing 0.3.0, neither MWLL nor Crysis would work.  After 3 failed attempts of uninstalling and reinstalling, I'm throwing in the towel.  I'm tired of the bugs and walk-arounds that is forced upon me from this steaming pile of 1's and 0's, and from the complaints I'm reading about the new version ( overpowered BA's and aeros, underpowered mechs, horrible FPS, etc. ), I doubt I would like MWLL anyway.

I do appreciate the effort the dev team has put into this mod, buts its not for me.
Good luck to all. I'll cya at the reboot.

If your having problems with your machine, i completely understand.

But dont listen to the whiners. THis is THE best mwll patch yet, and just because a small minority are vocal because something doesnt suit their personal tastes, does not mean its worse than 0.2.

In fact its much better.

New idea- would I be able to use an external hard drive to add RAM and/or improve gigahertz?

Deathbane's right. There're few screws that are loose and need of tightening but that's no reason to throw a hissy fit over it. And yes, there are naysayers out there that are giving other players bad names and whatnot. I say this, give it ago once more. Check your system settings, etc. etc. etc., and then download the game once more. It may well be the hard drive. Whenever a game is removed, reinstalled, removed, reinstalled, it tends to leave a trace on the drive. It's called ghosting. Also, you might want to remove the folders as well. Don't just uninstall the game, remove its files/folders and anything else that may cause you the troubles you're having at the moment.

As for these naysayers, I'm certain me and Deathbane are in agreement, ignore them! People like are just stupid and misinformed. Sure, FASA closed its doors and Dark Age showed up in its wake, I was miffed, angry about it. But I played the click versions and loved. Making a few friends along the way. I ignored all the BS about it and just played. So that's my advice on that end. Just follow what I said in top paragraph, then join in the fun. We have a server called Federated Suns. You're more than welcome to join us there. I'll see you on the field of honor.

I deleted my crysis folder after each uninstalled. Didn't help. My crysis cd is now a drink coaster.

lol what's happening when you try to load up the game/s?

Also I agree with death and thunder, this patch is by far the best yet. Sure it has it's quirks but it is still miles ahead of the other releases.

Also I agree with death and thunder, this patch is by far the best yet. Sure it has it's quirks but it is still miles ahead of the other releases.

After deleting the mwll folder and installing 0.3.0, I got a crysis error message ( can't remember it exactly ) when I tried to launch MWLL and/or Crysis. So I uninstalled, deleted the crysis folder, rebooted, and reinstalled.

After the first reinstall, I couldn't get the 1.2 patch to execute. It would start up and give me the UAC approval option, but after that ...nothing.  I fired up Crysis to see what version it was running, and it showed it was still at 1.1.  Plus, it was stuttering while in full screen.

So, I uninstalled, deleted crysis folder, rebooted, reinstalled. This time I fired up Crysis before patching and I got the same result. Again, the first patch went through ok but the second patch would stop after the UAC option.

So, I downloaded the patch from a different source. Uninstalled, deleted crysis...etc etc etc.  Same result. To avoid any suicidal tendencies at this point, I decided to test my theory of cleanly lodging a plastic CD into drywall from 15 feet away.

Turns out, the Crysis disc does in fact produce a small amount of pleasure if handled correctly.

I had problems the last time I had to reinstall the game, but it finally worked after the 3rd attempt. Not so much this time around, and frankly, I really don't want to go through this bullshit with each new version.  I've never had as much trouble with any game as I've had with one.  I know some of MWLL devs work for Crytek, and I'm sorry but I'll never purchase another product from them.

It would be funny if it all came down to actionmaps again......... you DID remove the Crysis actionmaps right?  :o  Anyways. What OS do you have, and is it 64 or 32 bit?

Vista64. My problem isn't actionmaps related because I can't get past the 1.2 patch.

It doesn't sound to me like he wants help.  I think he wants to be told that what he's doing is the right thing.  It probably is.

Please ensure you have installed both 1.20 and 1.21 patches for Crysis before trying to start the mod.

When patching Crysis, make sure you have a fresh install and do not start the game!
I don't know why, but in my case even the 1.2 update refused to patch after I had started the game, so I had to uninstall, reinstall and apply both patches before running the game itself...
