SA_Marshes ... WTF Happened?

I just spent about 45 minutes on SA_Marshes ... OMG ... WTF happened?

The FPS was horrible and I have a very beefy rig. I was playing on the MWLL Debug server and it was full. The level was barely playable. My FPS went from 11 FPS to 30 FPS but mostly around 19 to 20.

This also happened:

1. Lost collision in the hangar

2. No sound in the hangar from my BA or Mech footsteps

3. I get out into the map and the FPS drops are horrendous.

Where is the MWLL Debug server located ... Mars? Jesus something is mucked up and it is not my rig ... core i7, ATI HD 5970, 6GB Tri-channel RAM, 5Mbit up and 40 Mbit down for network link.

Damn ... oh and also ... night time on that map is really not necessary ... sweet Jesus what is this pre-occupation by the Dev team with all things DARK on any map!?

If you actually want peeps to play this game ... LOOSE THE DARKNESS !!!!

Moan moan moan.

Some of us really like the dark maps. Its a change after having extremity blind my eyes for  6 months, as much as i love that map.

THe tods need tweaking yes, fps etc needs to be increased yes.

BUt if your getting that level of problem with that rig, check your drivers.

I get bad fps, but it never goes below 20 on high unless shit really kicks off between about 6 mechs.

New idea- would I be able to use an external hard drive to add RAM and/or improve gigahertz?

The Night Cycle is a map setting, send a message to the server admin to get it adjusted ;)

Check my drivers! You are dreaming if you think any number of people will play this mod with all these dark maps!

Look at my sig! My rig should have no problem grinding through this stuff. This map and mod has REAL perfomance issues! And yes I will fapping MOAN when ever I want to and if you don't like it you can stick it!

The ToDs are controlled by flow graphs in the maps, as far as I know. So changing the ToD means a new revision to the map. Correct me if I am wrong in this assumption.

you have a much better system than i do and i get great performance on a full server

also- the darkness is not leaving this map, it will be adjusted though

system specs:
phenom 955 @ 3.6
5870 1gb
4gb ddr3 1600

40fps easy on very high with no aa 1600x900

the tod is not controled by a flowgraph- it's controlled through the tod edtior.

also- quite immature to be calling people butt heads and telling people to stick it.... -1

Force the game to run in 32bit DX9 (use Very High on DX9 tweak if you want eye candy, i use it).

There, fixed. :>

EDIT: whoa, maybe not. Magic San has a 3,6ghz 4 core cpu, you got a 2,6ghz 4 core cpu. That's 1ghz less. That's a lot.

EDIT2: e8200 @ 2,66ghz / 9800gtx / 4gb ddr2, very high, and my fps just randomly dropped to 4 on Marshes once twice. Ah well. I used to get 30-35fps on it in 0.2.0.

I think the darkness on marshes is cool to a point but it also makes playing very difficult as the new night vision, while being totally awesome in my opinion, makes it very difficult to make out targets at range and targets, buildings, and trees tend to blend together in the grey scale. I think there should be a longer day cycle with the night cycle still present just for a shorter time.

Are you using CCC 1.3? Deleting shader cache somehow fixes fps for me.
Also a his Core i7 should still outperform the phenom.

just played it for a bit not long ago, though it did crash out I had good performance on Marshes for the 30 minutes or so i played

Or a colorful wireframe "image enhancement engaged" mode!  Pretty please?  It'd be a cool homage to Mechwarrior 2!

Ok Sanny, good point. I was running 1920 by 1200, 4x AA. I turned off the AA. So now I will see what I get. With regards to the ToDs, do you guys use an Area Trigger and then a simple flow graph to set the start time of the ToD cycle?

You are correct about the immaturity. I should have controlled my temper. Its just his response was so inane.

Nothing wrong with the darkeness ... it is just the amount of time it is dark. So let me see, you MWLL Level Devs spend a lot of time creating a level and then you want it mostly played in the dark. It just doesn't make sense. Running around in a mech and the only thing I see are a bunch of blue and red tags. IMHO, 80 % of the ToD cycle should be daylight and the rest in dark.

Please, enough with the hyperbole.
 
The Time of Day* issues being experienced on some of the servers are due to a bug which we are still trying to nail down.  The honest truth is that we never experienced this issue on any of our Alpha servers so it took us a bit off guard.  We are looking into the issue actively and it WILL be addressed (along with several other issues) via a hotfix.
 
Time of Day issues noted thus far include incorrect start time for some maps, specifically at midnight causing initial darkness on many maps.  Also, there is a snow particle issue that will sometimes manifest on SA_Frostbite, again tied to incorrect Time of Day invocation.
