Borderlands is really fun!

played it on a friend's xBox
But playing online might... how did they put it in german...  change the game's speed! 
(no kidding... that's what they translated the usual "game experience may change during online play" in german xD

If you do get Borderlands on the PC, you might notice the mouse controls are a little bit console-y.  I highly suggest using this thread http://gbxforums.gearboxsoftware.com/showthread.php?t=79043 to make a few changes that will make the controls way better.  I can't remember what all I did but I definitely turned off mouse smoothing, which seemed to be the main problem (the options on the in-game menu are pretty limited).
