You're mixing something up there.
MechWarrior: Living Legends (MWLL) is a mod for the upcoming game Crysis: http://www.ea.com/crysis/
Crysis is a full-price game developed by a professional development studio (Crytek) and distributed by the world's largest game publisher (Electronic Arts).
MWLL is developed and promoted by a group of volunteers in their spare time (mostly) and distributed with the help and support of a few generous companies like MyInternetServices.com which will hopefully provide game servers and download mirrors once the game has reached a playable state.

To play MechWarrior: Living Legends you will need the game Crysis - which will be released on November 16 - and quite some patience, because there will not be a playable version of MechWarrior: Living Legends anytime soon.

Fileplanet had a promotion running earlier (several weeks ago) during which you could get access to the Crysis Beta client. That, however, has absolutely nothing to do with MWLL.

If you're looking for a standalone, Assault Tech 1 is what you're looking for. AT1 is more of a remade mechwarrior 2 though.

Yeah its a good project but for a modern gamers they will be sadly disappointed with the engine and overall quality...game play is good though

Hail House Liao, hopefully this is the same House Liao that played on the old MSN gaming Zone back in the day! Its been a long time since i battle with and against you:) My handle back then was Belgaron i had a Daishi and a madcat 2 (it depended what was needed on the field of battle at the time ). And yes this been a long time coming! MWLL you bring a tear to this old mech pilot eye by dev this mod. And to let you know all your sweat equity, long nights, the cramps from banging away at the keys and the clicky of the mouse buttons is really appreciated and if i could afford it i would send a keg of your favorite beer to all the legal drinkers and cases of soda's to all the others  .
