Star Wars: TFU2
« on: June 23, 2010, 12:02:10 PM »
WWWwoooooooWWWWWWW

It's been ages since I seen such a good trailer! ;D
Oh wait... last time it was the SW:OR, not that long ago.

Lucas Arts knows how to make the cinematics. This rocks.
Even if first SW:TFU was waaaay too linear, I liked the feeling of this game. Seriously: the first SW:TFU was one of best movies around. What a pity it wasn't one of best games. ~_~ Great thing to watch first time, no will to replay it at all.

Random toughts:
Oooh yay, another shiny render trailer that says absolutely nothing about the actual gameplay.
Chaining a Sith and surrounding him with the most inadequate fighting force on the planet but leaving him his lightsabers... WTF? Apparently Vader wants him to escape >_>
And why the heck has Darth Vader not just Stormtroopers where ever this is supposed to be, but also weird robots?
A flamethrower, seriously?
Yay, clones that are more evil than the guy they were cloned from.

Now, this footage shows exactly what I'm expecting, TFU1 with slightly better graphics.

I'll pass.

Trailer looks mad, love the fact that you have two lightsabers now, they better make the fighting so much more awesome :)

Geek time!

Not the first time nor the last!
A flamethrower, seriously?
Flamethrower was best anti-jedi weapon. Unlike thrown weapons or blaster shots the Jedi/Sith could not repell the flamethrower burst.

Wow, thanks for the link :)
What I expect is non-linear game. And by non-linear I mean something more than selectable ending.

Wow... secret commando info!  8) hehehe, nice :) sounds fun.
Even if it won't be fun - I'm going to buy it either way as soon as it gets on PC. :)

I'll definitely be getting this, but probably on 360, as that's what I have the first on.  Super excited!  ;D

I always assumed the power to move/push/pull objects and people around would enable a Jedi/Sith to do something like pushing a wall of air around too, which in the case of a flamethrower would act as a shield and might even allow the force user to repell the flames back onto the attacker.

That video was in the related column for the trailer, first entry :P
I doubt it'll be less linear than TFU1, why change a working system? Less effort needed ;)

Wait, so you're not actually playing the main guy but one of his clones?
Opening a can of clones to let the player restart at level one to avoid making the overpowered character a game breaker, probably with a taste of power at the beginning.
Hmm, very... original ;) ;D

Oh and you really want it for PC?
After the total disaster that the last port was?
I got it cheap on ebay, applied all patches and still had FPS below 5, once more than 3 enemies appeared (aka all the damn time), on a PC that could run Crysis at 1680x1050, everything on max except AA, with playable FPS, except in a few spots.
Optimization and testing? Just a waste of money. ::)

Well, they can even create vacuum in this way but... not really common till New Jedi Order series (which turn random Jedi into three-thrower).

Nah, for me it was all smooth, even with old Radeon X1300 (though I used to play on 1024x768 - not really worth to invest in high-res screen if your PC can't handle games in that).
Anyway: I don't have any console so I'll wait till PC port :)

I think it would be better on PC, If you buy it on 360, You have to buy the game Add-on's, on PC, you may have a chance that they will come free and such, As well as Mods and Servers for PC if it's multiplayer.

Interesting, I had an Nvidia card back then, maybe that caused some issues, since it died on me some time ago I've got an ATI one again...
I've also upgraded my CPU and RAM a while ago, so I might just give it another go sometime.

If it's even released on PC the question is still when...
In TFU1's case it was a year later, depending on how well it sold on PC, they might not even bother with a port for 2.
And if they decide to use Steam, you'll probably still have to pay for any addons.
Mods also depend on some development/modding tools to be released publicly, which didn't happen for the first one afaik, I can't even find any texture mods, which is the first thing people jump on most of the time.

It's already been confirmed for PC release.  It won't be a shitty console port like it was with the original.

The biggest problem with performance on a PC is the 3 physics engines.  With a single core P4 3.0, it ran like shit.  Upgraded to a Phenom II X2, runs great - no change in video card (ATi HD3850 at the time I played it).
