Light Gauss seems to be fine as is.  Usually does a good amount of damage to a light or a medium mech.  Sniping at a Hollander engaged with another target is a great way to quickly slough some armor off it.  Until you get noticed and have to run your Honda Civ- er, Harasser away.

Perhaps. He was moving to engage, so it's reasonable to believe that my shots on his L Torso were being backed up by a force greater than my dinky little Lt Gauss.

I love the LT Gauss Uziel in Thunder rift. It's the greatest.

The Light Gauss is just fine. Perfect weapon to scare them LRM boats away while you're in passive sensor mode, giving them hard time to find you. But no means you can one shot something with them, but if that target is foolish enough not to get into cover while you pepper him, 3-7 salvos tend to finish off heavies and leg some assaults.

that tell tale sound of gauss hitting your mech is usualy enough to drive them into cover. Even if its just a light gauss.

I did some testing yesterday. The light gauss is effective against the Harasser and light mechs, where two rounds will knock out between 60-75% of almost any armour section. Front, side, turret, torso, leg, or arm.

In medium mechs you already begin to lose effectiveness, where the Shadowcat and Bushwacker don't take significant damage across major armour sections. The damage is alright if you're hitting them near max range, or they're not paying attention to you, but you'll probably lose in a slugging match. Limbs and shoulder mounts should be your main targets, although they're harder to hit.

Heavy mechs barely take 10-15% damage against a leg hit even. A torso shot is even more pitiful, although shoulder mounts still take a significant amount of damage.

I didn't even bother with assault mechs.

(Some other testing: ERPPCs butt rape anything less than a heavy, two gauss rifles + extra ammo make for a good amount of butthurt, and the 2 MRM40 catapult is some sort of Atlas raping god with a nearby APC for refills.)

Interesting notes.  It should also be observed that PPCs, ERPPCs, and Clan PPCs are all different...

Sure, but I noticed both the CERPPC and ERPPC do have a good amount of damage on them. The PPC? Not so much in my experience. I could do more testing though. brbshootingatmechs

Although both IS PPC and ERPPC should have the same damage :(
Only the Clan ERPPC is uber with 50% increased damage compared to the IS version.

As far as I can tell, the PPCs only differ from each other a little, but the jump between PPC and CERPPC is significant. Between ERPPC and PPC, and ERPPC and CERPPC, there's only a few "pixels" worth of difference. That's at 1680x1050, mind you.

The light gauss really does lose effectiveness on anything but shoulder mounts on mechs heavier than medium. Even limbs are impervious to anything but a constant stream of light gauss rounds. You'd be better off with medium lasers.

If the Ltg did any more damage, than any skilled pilot at 1200m would just shred mechs to bits. Rather it was more of a scare people weapon than a death beam lol.

The IS PPC has a faster recharge time than the ERPPC or CERPPC. However, IMHO the PPC's damage and inferior range does not make up for the slightly faster fire rate.

It would be interesting if someone put the LtGauss and the PPC Uziel in a slug fest at 700 meters and see who wins.

Sparrowhawks are really light and fast, right? Really thin armor? Apparently it's thick enough to take a Lt Gauss slug and MG fire to the cockpit. Just a random observation.
