As can be seen in this thread, there is a broad variance of opinion in this matter. This is why I am hoping the MWLL Dev team moves in the direction of server side switchable environmental effects. Say a cvar something like sv_weather_effects. This would allow the server administrator to switch on/off these particle effects.

New idea- would I be able to use an external hard drive to add RAM and/or improve gigahertz?

I dunno, you could just as easily say this thread shows the map is just about right.  One individual said vision was too obscured, one said it wasn't obscured enough, and everyone else fell pretty much in the middle.

On one hand I liked being completely deprived of vision.
On the other hand the particles that the bug created gave me eye cancer.
Put in something darker that doesn't hurt the eyes and I'll bite.
