Huit-B de-garbaging
« on: June 30, 2010, 04:41:45 PM »
The LPL Huit is pretty much unused because it's so darn heat inefficient and expensive. How about changing the 4 LPL loadout? Say, 2 UAC/10's or LB10-XAC's and a pair of ERML or ERLL, depending how many tons it has to spare?

My question is where the hell is the LBX Huit if it's supposed to be AA?  2x LBX10, 4x LBX5, and 2 UAC2s is what I would be looking for.  That would OWN the current AA incarnation in usefulness IMO.

OMG YES! YES! fappING YES! I WANT! I love the Huit prime, but if the target is using F-bombs and coming out of nowhere, as very often happens on Mirage, you need something that can give you a good burst of damage instead of hoping that they stay in your view long enough to slowly chew through their armor.

New idea- would I be able to use an external hard drive to add RAM and/or improve gigahertz?

2 LBX5
2 LBX10
1 LBX20
Would make air suffer at range and insta die at close range. Would require no other ballance changes.  I guess LBX is not cannon AA. Similar things are used in the real world. Anyone who has enjoyed bird hunting or skeet/ trap is well aware of this. SAM missles are also often a design similar to a one shot LBX proximity detonated mounted on a missle.

The UAC2's would be more useful to finishing off any aeros that may have survived your first barrage and are trying to run away, as well as being very useful for taking out BA.

Well, the Huit appears to have ~42 tons of pod space in CBT. Though I doubt it matches the ICE engine and only 5.5 tons of armor of the CBT version. I suspect it upgrades to a larger fusion engine for about the same weight which also gives it some free heat sinks. Additional tonnage saved from the heat sinks is probably added into the armor. So, we can assume it probably still has ~42 tons of weapons.

4 CLPLs = 24 tons, leaving 18 tons of heat sinks. Since you cannot mount double heat sinks on vehicles that means it is sitting at 28 heat dissipation versus 40 heat build up. Yes, it will overheat quick.

Now, 2 CLB10X weigh 20 tons, 4 CLB5X weigh 28 tons, and 2 CUAC/2s weight 10 tons. This puts it slightly overweight by 16 tons, and without any extra ammunition.

1 CLB20X weighs 12 tons, 2 CLB10X weigh 20 tons, and 2 CLB5X weigh 14 tons. That puts it at 46 tons, 4 tons overweight about, and without extra ammunition.

You could theoretically do 2 CLPL at 12 tons, 2 CLB10X at 20 tons, and 2 CUAC/2s at 10 tons for 42 tons total with no extra ammunition.

I'd like to interject for a moment and ask if you've ever tried the LBX Partisan? Between not knowing how much to lead by in all circumstances, and the lag shield provided to most players, I found the LBX Partisan frustrating to use. It didn't hit anything, and the LBXs take forever (so it feels) to reload. And they didn't hit anything. This was on Clearcut in a more traditional back line AA role.

I'm a big beatstick user, so I do quite well with the LBX partisan.

Probably better keep it with lasers 4xCERBL, 4xMGuns and then just heat sinks. It would be effective vs a variety of targets.

Id go with:
Six CLBX-AC5, and 6 tons of spare ammo.

With that many of them you could chain fire them non-stop.

Edit:'Cause I need to learn to proof-read.

I'd totaly agree with you if the mechlab wasn't so very very, very very very very very far away...
