Hey everyone... this map is not relaly for pug's but is rather a basic map with all resources being available. Suggested use is for practice or game research using ToS format with lots of cash to experiment with. I've been asked about the map before. I'm posting it here just in case anyone would like to use it is all.

Image?

Would be nice to see what this looks like first, sounds interesting.

Would it be possible to add giant rings of some sort for Aeros/VTOL to train flying maneuvers?

I actually had mech models on the map originally but they prevented others from joining the map in multiplayer and only let the person hosting join. We've been using the map for months now with tweaks and changes based on our unit practice sessions. This latest version I turned off a slew of ammo bunkers I used for target with the Federated Suns decal on it like a bullseye. I would like to add destroyable targets on the map that would respawn after destroyed over time but haven't dug too much into it yet. I like the ring idea although when I practiced with the aero's, I used the dropship to fly through for practice as it would be an ingame aspect to use. Spyro is much more talented with sandbox than I am I'm sure, so he prob. knows how to do these things easily already. <G>

Spyro: Someday I'll ask you to make me a training map for my future unit.

Back to topic: I'd love this! Could you put a landmine course, though? Just a thought...
People are stupid if they think they can have their own way.

... that is, unless they have HEAP rounds, high-explosive homing missiles, and terawatt lasers on a walking weapons platform, that is...

Wow... wow... I mean: what's that?
No offense, but: What happen?
This map looks very... weird to say at least. Texture work is very very lacking, terrain has almost no features. All of the objects are put in random spots of the map. Reminds me more of MW4 than MWLL.

You can do better Teafour, even more: you did better already, eg. with the crater map. Re-make it (especially entire texture work and terrain features) and it actually might be something useful. And don't feel discouraged. :) Just try to keep the level and make maps better :)

Skywalker... training map is not meant to be a perfect pug map.. it's for training and it's a practical layout. Lots of rough terrain was not desired for the purpose we used. I'm going to do some mild tweaks and changes but not intending to do any major overhauls. The features of the terrain are minimal to say the least on purpose however the objects are most definitely not random at all. If you were in the unit and sat in one of our aofficial practices, you'd understand more I guess. It's only posted because I've had several other people ask me what the map was we loaded on our practice nights and was sharing. I know I can do lots of things to pretty it up and add things. I liked the air obicle idea and I'd like to add some targets that are destroyable that respawn over time too. Outside that, not looking at a lot of changes to this one guys, sorry. I'm working on the other maps for public use more right now.

The thing is that, at least in my opinion, if you do things: do them right.
Even if it's just a training map - you've decided to share it with hundreds of forum visitors, and by this you should at least try to provide a quality product. For both, the sake of your own PR as a map-maker and your clan PR*.

Well, maybe you are right that I don't see a purpose of map with few randomly placed objects, maybe my definition of training map is different, maybe it's just that any thing would work as training map cause any map give an opportunity for training some skills, even one randomly generated, by still for me - releasing map to public means one should make it as good as his skills allow. No matter what it's purpose is.

Oh well, but I guess that's the point where we disagree :) In any case - looking forward for other maps :) Especially because I know you are a skilled mapmaker, hope that people viewing this post won't be discouraged to other your products, cause they are really fun to play. :)

I was going to do targets as a movable entities and destructible objects, its fun to play soccer with a rock...put it on the stand in the middle of the map, use solids for goals and to prevent it from going out...would anyone be interested in soccer?  if so I'll make it...its quick, dirty, and easy cause theres no terrain difference or anything

The Idea is fine. If it's a TRAINIG COURSE, it's a great thing.

The beginners could find an "Training Ground" in the Serverlist, and knows what to do - the name is selfexplaining.
On the map need to be a training course, with numbered stations. At every station can be a short description of on of the lot possibilities.
...and so on, and so on....

It remembers a little bit to the typical traingcourses of StarWars/x-wing vs. TIE-Figher. 8)
