A resolve of a gamer
« on: July 03, 2010, 10:22:59 PM »
Greetings, Zed here.

I just finished playing my friend MWLL game, and I need to admit, I think my inner geek just lost, erm, something. Anyway, I had a tonnes of fun! (heh get it?)

First I wasn't to sure what was what, but I asked in team chat and I want shown how to buy a mech, sell a mech, get into a mech and shoot. I was in a small mech, uhm, urler? I don't remember, anyway I feel I can finally rest easy at night, knowing this game is here. (And that it has Micro$ofts approval.)

If I wasn't already working on 3D, i'd offer my services :D

Good job guys, keep up the great work.

It somehow figures you would use a GI Joe reference. (That's what it reminded ME of)

My thoughts are, Knowing is half the battle, ammo is the rest.  ;D

Anyways, welcome to the community. And I hope you have fun here!

Correct me if I'm wrong, but from what I understand this is mod to an allready existing game.
And although Microsoft has license on the MW game, seeing as this is a free mod and nobody is making money from it do you really need their approval to make this mod?

In any case welcome to MWLL, hope you will have great fun here.
Best mod out there if you ask me.

MS owns the mechwarrior license and while many a mod have gotten away with developing without permission it still leaves them open to cease and desist orders.

Getting permission from MS helps cut that off before it might become a problem.  With MW5 in development, the permission really helps keep the mod moving along.  The MW5 devs might have wanted MWLL to stop since it would detract from their game.

But then, who here is NOT going to get MW5? I can assure you, almost every poster on these forums will end up getting the Mechwarrior Reboot.

And it's kinda like Free advertising for both sides. On youtube there is countless people saying "MW5 is dead, but check this cool mod for Crysis called MWLL!"

And then some saying, "I love MWLL, but I hope MW5 gets the love it deserves."

So I think it helps both MW5, MWLL, and the possibility of a Live Action Mechwarrior Movie? I doubt it, but who knows!

But then, who here is NOT going to get MW5?
Me. Unless it'll have super-good reviews.
Most likely it'll be pointless, flat shooter with Mechs instead of terrorist and some weird perks/achievements all around. No thanks, but I'll pass.

Allright I stand corrected on the license issue then, was not quite sure about it.

One thing I dont understand, why does everyone call that new MW game for MW5?
It has been clearly stated by the devs that its NOT MW5, its a reboot of the series not a continuation yet players and even game review writers keep calling it MW5.
Its true its the 5th MW game to be made, but that dont automatically make it MW5.
Another thing, I thought that game was at the very least put on hold due to legal issues from some Japanese company holding some licences aroun it.

It's MW5 until the devs put out the real name for the title that is easily abbreviated.  it's also our subconscious attempt to take back MW for mechwarrior from the MW = modern warfare chumps.

Lol yeah, I still get confused when ppl talk about MW. Do they mean mechwarrior or modern warfare.
Was in a conversation on MSN not long with a guy, and the subject of MW came up.
I asked the guy what he thought of MW,
The guy then started going on about things I didnt understand jack about, when I then started talking about mechs the guy got totally confused.
Turns out they guy was a big fan of that game, but had never heard of Mechwarrior.
I suggested the guy try this mod, dont think he has though.
