The Legend of Dragoon

a PS1 game filled with badly translated dialogue and hilariously bad voice acting (in cinematics anyway). ironically, it's possibly the best game i have ever played. ever.

awesome story, surprisingly fun combat, dragons, humans, and dragon humans.

60 hours of playtime that keeps you attached all the way. it is, as far as i'm concerned, the best game of its kind.

I totaly agree and the most simple named hero ever 'Dart'. The cinematics rocked and the english voices were not bad either. The last disc was a serious plot ride that just twisted your head.

Then the last battle with darts other dragoon form kekeke overkill was never sweeter.

Doin this since from what I've seen it's stealthed past a lot of people's radars....
King Arther-The role playing wargame.
Arthurian lore, celtic myth, total war esque hugeness, magic, giants....that's this. Plus a real nice story line with quite a few alternate endings. *depending on your morality* one of the more fun games I've played in a long time, and it looks pretty to.
but then again, I'm into arthurian lore and celtic myth lol
And yes....RTS with RPG....they pulled it flawlessly

Personally, I'm a huge fan of Sniper Elite on Xbox/PS2/PC. It came out right at the end of the original Xbox's life cycle, around late 2004/early 2005. Basically, you play as an OSS sniper sent into Berlin to stop the Russians from obtaining Nazi nuclear secrets. The story doesn't matter much, it's the gameplay that's awesome.

To the best of my knowledge, it's the first and only game to take bullet drop, wind, body stance, breathing, and other factors into account. So when you snipe a target from long range, you have to really aim carefully. You can even mask the sound of the gunshot by timing it with environmental sounds, like aircraft flying low overhead, or exploding artillery. Really cool game.

Oh, and when you line up a one-hit kill (usually the head), you get a slow-mo, bullet-following camera that ends with a nice, explode-y head shot. Awesome.

It's become somewhat of a cult classic, and I've seen unopened copies going for nearly a hundred bucks. Personally, after I made the poor choice of selling mine in 2005, I recently "downloaded" a new copy for PC. Great game.

awesome game! i agree with all of the above

I have to say, the Battlezone series was a rather awesome series, not to mention it was a unique game; you don't see very many games where it mixes Real Time Strategy with a Sim/FPS.  You build bases, command an army, and lead that army to the front in the flesh.

Also Demonstar is pretty fun for a basic game. The old game MiniCarRacing (got it for $40) is still PWNAGE!

Yeah, Battlezone was awesome.
Played it online for months, but later on the sniper rifle killed it for me.
Seemed like everyone was only running around on foot with the stupid rifle and as soon as you came around the corner in some vehicle, you were shot out of the cockpit  >:(

So many hours of my younger days went into that sink... could never get BZ2 to run on Vista. :( Even though by today's standards it's not particularly deep, those games still have one of my favorite video game plots of all time.

[spoilers]
Especially the part in BZ2 where the campaign diverges and you have the chance to play as the Scions.

I still love to play Dystopia (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q-p4ggrMNXg&feature=related) sometimes, I really wish i had more time to get really into it. It's such a complex and great game.

Also, I used to play BZ and BZ2 a lot. Just the single player though, never really did multi. Those were also amazing games!

Oh yeah, hardwar was great.
A bit like privateer.

Oh, talking about privateer... the wingcommander series comes into my mind. Probably the least known part of that series was wingcommander armada. Does anyone remember that one ?
Basically a mix of wingcommander and masters of orion. It also supported split-screen gaming. I used to play it alot with my brother.

I love Battlezone. I still have both Battlezone and BZ2's CDs, and play BZ2 with my friends occasionally. BZ2 was like Crysis when it came out  ;D
