Planescape Torment

Took me years to stumble over this gem. One of the best storylines I ever experienced. You can even buy it again on Amazon.

There is a very good guide which explain in detail how to install it with the Fixpacks and Mods. Makes the game run on modern
OS and even in widescreen resolutions. Click here.

I bought Planescape about 5 years ago and haven't even installed it yet. I'll have to get around to it one of these days  ::)

Naval Ops: Warship Gunner and Warship Gunner 2 by Koei for the PS2. Those were AMAZING games.
Basically, you build your own warships, starting off with a little destroyer, and eventually working your way up to nuclear powered super battleships and cool BattleCarrier hybrids and the like. I spent so much time playing those, they were just so addicting and fun. The story is throw-away, but it's not really the story that matters in a game like this. You'll be too busy blowing shit up with ridiculously large cannons and nuclear torpedoes to care.

That said, the "Bonus" missions for WG2 had some of the funniest dialog EVER. I lol'd so much. Definitely worth a buy if you can still find them.

Ah yes, Dwarf Fortress. Strange game, that. People with far more time on their hands than I have figured out insane traps, like dropping a mountain onto attackers, flooding volcanoes with diverted lakes, all kins of crazy stuff. Gonna have to play that game again some time.

I made a lava cannon directly over the entrance to my fortress this one time. Unfortunately due to an oversight with the order in which I rebuilt it after taking it all apart to make some modifications, I got slaughtered by goblins before ever getting to use it on them. I did fire it on a human caravan though. Good stuff. The contents of the trade depot went up in a very satisfying poof of smoke. Two of the humies survived, limping away and trailing blood. Because living things in DF aren't aware of the danger that fire poses, however, they limped back toward the depot after recovering their wits, directly into a brush fire. Suffice to say, they both burned to death. This was well after the fortress started to spiral downward into dysfunction after the goblin siege however. Shortly after this a breach in the system that fed the cannon from its adjacent volcano occurred, and the fortress slowly flooded with the blood of the mountain. One of the images of that fortress that stands out in my mind was my mayor and another dwarf whose guts were trailing behind him getting into a fistfight on top of a hospital bed, and a berserk child killing several other dwarves in my dining hall.

If you have a more direct form of communication we can use (AIM, MSN, skype...) I'd be happy to help. The idea of a DF anything video is kind of silly. A helping hand is best, and I didn't have one, so it's a great pleasure to me to be just that. ;D

Same goes to anyone else who wants to learn how to play DF. Looooooerv dat gaem.

Ahhh great, now I'm addicted to Dwarf Fortress. It's so F**KING COMPLEX but at the same time it's just..oddly addicting and somehow charming. Amazing little gem.

;D I just started work on the Mark V Dwarven Lava Cannon. The previous iterations (all improvements on the same one, described in my previous post) were merely a proof of concept. This towering monstrosity will be 8 stories tall, its reservoir for lava ~5 times larger, and the length of its reload cycle a fraction of the original's.

One thing I've found is that there's no such thing as over-planning in this game. I spent an hour laying out the design for the new cannon on paper and scanned the blueprints onto my computer, then laid it out at the site I embarked to in-game using notes, which took maybe an hour and a half. It was a hell of a lot of work, but it's better that I worked it all out in advance rather than during construction. There were a couple of oversights in my original design that would have been a bitch to fix after the fact.

The Legend of Dragoon

a PS1 game filled with badly translated dialogue and hilariously bad voice acting (in cinematics anyway). ironically, it's possibly the best game i have ever played. ever.

awesome story, surprisingly fun combat, dragons, humans, and dragon humans.

60 hours of playtime that keeps you attached all the way. it is, as far as i'm concerned, the best game of its kind.

I had this game once, and loved it.
I'm a big Final Fantasy fan, and this game being in the same genre fell right in with me.
I dont have it anymore, but plan on getting my hands on it again when I can afford it.

I had this game once, but never got around to play it much. I didnt have much interest for RPG games back then, unlike now when I can play such games over and over.
I have been looking for it again lately, but seem to be difficult to come by, as I wanna try it again.

Thanks for reminding me of 2 good old titles.

Legend of Dragoon! I remember that game. I saw a commerical for it while standing in a Sears video game section and convinced my brother to buy it on the spot (I think i was 12). We got it home and we didnt stop playing it for weeks.

Another great rpg with like 80+ hours of gameplay is Tales of Symphonia for the gamecube. Not many rpgs were made for the GC, but this one was a gem. A fun combat system, great characters, and bigger storyline twists than a M. Night Shyamalan movie make this game worth the price tag.

A chaotic, and hardly fun combat system
