The only time I managed to stick C8 to something was when I jumped directly onto a Demolisher that wasn't moving and threw it straight down. Despite burning a full bar of JJ fuel to get away, the explosion killed me. :(

C8 requires that you strap it to your face and faceplant yourself into whatever you want to explode.
I would much much MUCH rather they be remote charges rather than timed, thus I can sit there and unload 4 onto a mech's back before they notice and then fly off to safety and detonate to watch the jiffypop fly.

I've been doing that since 0.1.0?  I noticed that they slowed the tossing since 0.2.0, but I can still land three or four before the first one goes off.  Fire two missiles as a parting gift, and you've crippled most mechs.

I'd much rather have a faster projectile speed on them.  It would make it much easier to plant them on a moving target.

It's temperamental and requires a degree of finesse to time it right.  I've had a lot of practice, with suicidal being my usual mode of operation.  The throwing function has always been a bit sticky, but at least they fixed the bug where you got stuck if you mashed the throw key too quickly.

I don't play as BA much, and I've only used C8 once.

I flew over a Thanny, and mashed right mouse button a bunch of times.
Two C8 landed on his cockpit, and he asploded.

From the way you guys are talking about it though, I guess I just got lucky  :-\

Off topic: does anyone know what the C8/Fire toggle does? (when you click mouse wheel)

Watch out for those inferno grenades.  I honestly don't know how anyone dies to their own C8 other than an extremely hairy situation (it's happened to me, but I just lost control of the situation), but inferno grenades are another matter.  They have a kill radius of about 18m against battle armor, and they go off faster than C8 packs.  They're almost impossible to use safely in close combat, so practice lobbing those suckers at a distance of thirty to fifty meters.

Would be nice if I knew what kind of heat they dealt when exploding near enough to a target to hit.   Anyone who finds that out gets a cookie.

My own experience gave the inferno nades of heat generation value of around 250 or so...  So it's massive heat spike and if you time it right, you can practically force shutdown any mech out there. Aside from the ones with high amount of heatsinks that quickly flush some coolant.

 Or a pilot with reflexes good enough to override a shutdown. ;)

My C8 always bounces off, even against stationary targets, making them a waste of money
