Wind on some maps?
« on: July 08, 2010, 11:17:47 AM »
Hey there,

im not sure if its a bug or if its physics.
on some maps, if your flying, the mashine is tilting and rotating like mad man. i think it was the small map with tons of hills (clearcut?)
if the wind is intetional, it would be good to know before flying like a paper plane in the storm and eventualy been totaly useless and die a even more useless death :)

Aerospace fighters are much more like flying bricks than the aerodynamic fighters of today. They wouldn't be affected much by wind.
Also, this has been discussed before in Ideas&Suggestions

this is not an idea. i am asking, if there is wind currently, cause i happen to get shaking movements on some maps, like ghust of winds.

Oh, that's just the anti-air ammunition hitting you and bouncing off harmlessly.   You can safely ignore it.   But if you do notice your armour going a mild yellow at some stage, just whiz back to base, re-arm in a jiffy, and you can put those AA's out of their misery.

the point is, this happens even without AA shooting, just flying on some maps alone. gets less in the higher sky and worse near the mountain top. thats why i thought its a storm :)

I've never experienced this myself, and I have played aero/vtol quite a bit, on every map that has them, across all MWLL beta releases. Not on Clearcut (the one you mentioned), or on Frostbite (where there appears to be an actual storm going on).

It might just be the sensitivity of rolling, which (for me at least) went up drastically in 0.3.

Virt is it even possible for you to not post thinly veiled complaints about aeros in every topic you enter?

It's more than "possible", it's already happened.   You see, I've made my case for the tweaks needed to aeros, and now I'm just making jokes about the whole debate.

Somehow I'm still not convinced at the joking nature of his complaints.

I can't put into words just how much your lack of conviction troubles me.

Fortunately, I found an image that does the job nicely...

Back on the actual the topic of this thread: I flew in two aeros on Clearcut last night, but couldn't detect any wind effects.   I wonder if your input device is experiencing some kind of false input or drift?    Have you tried it in a calibration program to see if it drifts there?

Maps do have wind but they have no effect on areospace.

Interesting!

Does wind have an effect on artillery and/or other projectiles?

Does the strength and direction of the wind change dynamically during a round, or is it set for the duration of the round?
