The only front line should be the one that your team moves together with.  What I specifically see is people running straight forward into the enemy, alone, against 2-3 mechs.

You aren't "breaking the line" by doing this, especially in an uller vs warhammers and maulers.

NOT EVER.

The line, at that point, would be BREAKING YOU.

Not exactly the same.

The problem lies in the fact that many people don't try to engage the enemy, even from range.  Most people wait to be engaged so they can get that first alpha off.  It's that hesitancy that ruins some games.

Just this morning, two Nova Cats shut down my team's opposition because they wouldn't mass and strike the lightly armored fellas down.  When it comes time to go for objectives, refusing to stick your neck out just isn't going to cut it.
Thanks for the view.

The game mode blows and since its all we "currently" have we tend to over think it. I play many rounds with no intention of winning. I just like to experiment with diff mechs and tactics that I find entertaining. There is little incentive to play as a team with this mode. If I want to win I will play aggressively to rank up to my favorite equipment as as quickly as possible. This also leaves my team at a disadvantage as I tend to feed the enemy alot of points untill then. You can pair up with another guy on the pub and team up but that really leaves the less "social" players at a disadvantage. You can also pair up then get over run by 5 or 6 organised opponents. My point is have fun and wait till we have more modes before you put too much consideration into "balance". This mod will remain a choatic mix of "try hards" and  "dont cares" on pub servers until a different mode is played. I really wish we could get more people on the TOS servers.

Honestly I'm about tired of it all together. Love Battletech. I have been playing since I was around eight years old, but I'm getting tired of the moving turrets. You're not Mech Pilots. I've took down two Assaults in one run brawling with a Uller cause most people just hang back, wait for target, and never really learn how to pilot your Mech. Really loving the all hail to the Novacat. Yeah, you can do alot of damage from range with that, but that's it. The Mech has nothing to offer to the team. Thantos is much better. C3, Jump Jets, and a 360 torso twist. Which is great for brawling. Favorite move to pull that throws most people off, get them chasing, twist to face them, jump behind them, take them down blasting their rear armor. Another thing that's really getting my goat, this red rover red rover stuff. Eight Mechs standing about a klick outside other their base waiting for them to come out. Why? The turrets can be destroyed for a reason. Go in and take whats yours. Like I've said, it's not a preschool playground, it's war. Stop acting like it's a typical FPS. It's not. Specially on the maps that have two bases per team. Why isn't this fair. It would actually add a little objective to the game other than standing around waiting for your crosshairs to go red. Speaking of which. Those that think their good cause they have a high KDR or high score, your not. Truth is most of the time you wouldn't be able to get those kills without the people running in and softening them up for you or distracting them. So don't complain about those guys cause if we all stood back like you the game would be pretty boring. Which it's becoming. And 420... I love the TOS servers. Specially if I can get a team that gets it. So anytime you're ready to roll, let me know.

Doing a line rush with Riker's always fun. I wished more people did it though. Sometimes this game turns into Campwarrior Living Turrets :(

I actually rushed an Arrow IV Catapult in my Owens B on sandblasted today. I chased him (Square Sphere) for two minutes, shooting his back armour to about half health before he regrouped with a Mauler. I then turned around and began RTB. A third of the way there, I got stuck on a wall, and Square hit me with an Arrow. My Owens was all orange, and after I finished yelling at Square :P I made it to back to base to repair.

After rushing their team again, I legged a Raven (he was trying to leg me too ;)) and killed a Bushy. I sold my Owens, and grabbed the LBX Loki. I saw the Mauler that helped Square earlier fighting some teammates. I armed him, and then took out his rear armour. I then Did the same to two bushies trying to back him up. Right after I killed the second bushy, some other guy in a Loki (some l@z0r one) finished off what was left of my mech.

I came back in another LBX Loki just as the map was ending. Luckily, the guy who killed me was right in front of my base killing some other doodz, so I rushed him while he wasn't looking and took off his arms. He stayed in his mech, and I shot what was left with it with my dual LBX 20's until he died. Just as the map was ending, i yelled REVENGE!!!
It felt so good. ;D

Oh, and Snowball was like 37-3. For some reason, my Owens always stopped directly in front of his Madcat whenever I was anywhere near him. This one time I even randomly ejected :-\
I think he's HAX (JK) :P

I still wish I killed Square though :(

I'm guessing the reason I said all of this is to show how much funner brawling is than being a turret, and to try and convince more people to do it.

What mech would allow you to get such a high KDR?  Only thing I Have seen that lets people get that high, so far, is long tom.

Static play will be near impossible once the objective modes come online, which should be very soon.

Every time I saw him, he was in a Madcat. I think he gave most of the C-bills he gained away, because most of his teammates were in heavies/assaults even though many of them weren't doing that good.

I got a Madcat B within like the first 10 minutes of the match, and people straggled in bit by bit along the entire course of the match, so there was always lights I could just alpha for a near-instakill.

Every time I saw him, he was in a Madcat. I think he gave most of the C-bills he gained away, because most of his teammates were in heavies/assaults even though many of them weren't doing that good.

My teammates all had heavies and assaults because they earned them; they didn't really get any kills (my fault, I did steal a few) but they still dealt damage and ranked up enough to earn there mechs.  I was actually hoarding my cash to see if I could break 1 mil cbills again, but I only got up to ~850k.

Oh, the kills they had made me think they were doing worse than they really were.

I actually joined the match at about the 50 minutes left mark, so when I ran out with my Owens and saw you, I was like WTF? is this one of those 90 minute games? It was a little odd to look at my radar, and always see 4 heavy/assault mechs going up against our 3 medium/lights :o

Lol, yep, you're the guy I keep legging in the Owens B. I salute you, only one brave enough to go into battle.
Most of the time you will see me in the warhammer/awesome kneeling behind a rock 400m away from their battle line while the rest of our team standoffs at 900m. I can usually pick a few off peeking around the rock but I'm not gonna rush out there and get instaboned.

That said its a great feeling when you're the lone Sargent held up behind some sandbags with all sorts of hell raining down around you. If I can get a few to break off and attack me that just leads them into the sight of my team.
It is in my DNA to gain ground (not charge), and no matter how high my KDR is I MUST push to their base until I am too damaged to fight. Many of my deaths are from this, getting shot in the back limping back to base because I pushed "too far" and got too far away from my turtle team who is sitting 500m outside our base even though we now control the entire map. But I will stay back in certain rolls, the Mauler Prime, and Madcat Prime for instance are better at ranges where they can use all their weapons and the Mauler is so slow its not a good idea to get too far ahead.
Even then I cant fight the itch forever and I've been known to be 500m ahead of my team in a missile boat looking for clanners to kill.

The solution to all of this is simple:
Static play will be near impossible once the objective modes come online, which should be very soon.

ALL HAIL! *Salutes*

Plus defending a point will MEAN something now so that should make even static warfare much more fun.

What you didn't know Mancowfish was that I was dropping arrows in on your teams artillery assets with no target lock ;)  Since they were in the 1km range beyond my locking, i just went passive and used my LOS targeting.  I was PISSED you came after me ;p at the same time i was screaming like a little girl for help calling out your location to my team.

I had to run pretty far until Devo in his mauler finally came to my aid.  My back was red at that point, you may have gotten the kill if you didn't run off... guess we'll never know ;)

Oh yeah, SB is CRAZY good with those lasers, i always dread/love it when he's on the other team too :D

I couldn't agree more.  I love brawling and while some of my best moments have been when my team is +500m behind me just sniping, while I am running around like crazy in the enemy line, I can't begin to express how frustrating it is that I sacrifice myself so our line will pull forward only to have my team just sit there.  I love the Scat with the LBX20.  There have been times on Sandblasted as Clan, where I am flying through the dunes near the IS base for 20-30 minutes hit and running on the IS hiding by the Rock formation, while my team is behind the pyramid the whole time.  I don't get what they are doing and how they are having fun.  I can't stand LRM's and I have tried Arrows for the first time recently and just get bored.  Granted, I die quite a bit, but I get our team some good points.  I just hope that more people learn to brawl so I don't have to go in alone.

Y'all make me want to start playing again!!!
I totally agree on the piloting aspect, to me that's one of the greatest perks to this game.  I just wish it was more effective, can never get my wish of 6 lights in formation laying waste on Sandblasted.  Oh, the looks on their 'campy' little faces when 6 Puma C's come over the dunes with pure ERML death!!  I'd be ecstatic with just 3 TBH.

Have fun out there kids...

I suck!! But WE are AWESOME.  We started a unit.  What's that?!  YOU WANNA TOUCH MY UNIT?!! :P ^^12thVR Recruitment Page(clickthepic) ;)
