Launch Troubles

I have a steam version of crysis, been playing for a while now with no troubles.  Starting today, when I launch mwll from the beta launcher everything seems like its about to load and then... nothing.  My comp stays on the desktop although the crysis.exe is running in the task manager, which I can't switch to nor does it seem to even exist except for the 30k of memory its soaking up.  If i try to launch it again it says a version of crysis is already running.  I haven't changed anything from yesterday to today.  Any ideas?  More info on request.

*** Just tried launching plain old crysis via steam and that has the same result.

*** The attempt to launch vanilla crysis just loaded about 15 minutes after launching...  Scared the crap out of me.  Will chalk it up to a fluke i guess.

Have you tried running Crysis in Windowed mode instead of full screen.

Does this occur in other games?

Please check your Task Manager and scan for suspicious software. If so then run msconfig to disable those during startup.

That the crysis.exe states aother version is running is simply because the first has not been started nor closed correctly, hit LftCTRL*Alt*Del to manually shut it down.

Thanks for the posts.  As far as mal-ware, it started doing it right after a virus scan actually.  But its working fine now.  See you on the battlefields.
