MWLL.AutoUpdater Crash
« on: July 13, 2010, 06:01:03 AM »
Below is an example of what a BUG report may contain.

Revision Number - Bug (Be specific and short), e.g.;
0.3.2 - MWLL Install Wizard Crashes at the AutoUpdater Initiation

Formal description: I had a working version of MWLL pre hotfix 0.3.2. I didn't download the ZIP files but the proper hotfix for the client.  I can make it all the way through the install wizard up until the 'finish' button where the autoupdater is toggeld on.  It crashes upon clicking finish.  Locating the executable for the MWLL.AutoUpdater in the MWLL folder and running as admin the updater crashes without ever getting started.

Repro Steps: (If possible write down all steps leading to the BUG itself.)
1.  Running the hotfix leads to crash.
2.  Running the Auto.Updater as admin leads to crash.

Repro: 16/16 (How many times were you able to repro the BUG)

Severity: 5/5 Attempting to start the client without having properly patched the client gives the message that the files are modified and shuts the client down.

Addendum:
The following crash log is provided by Windows Vista:

Description:
  Stopped working

Problem signature:

  Problem Signature 01:   mwll.autoupdater.exe

I'm having the same issue, but there is a way to get a proper patched client:

1) clean 0.3.0 install
2) patch to 0.3.1
3) run 0.3.2-patch.EXE (without running the updater)
4) unzip 0.3.2-patch.ZIP into the mwll directory

We will address this issue as soon as possible.
There comes a point where the talking must stop, and people have to do actual work.

Thank you very much for reporting this issue.
I believe I have found and fixed the problem.

Until the fix is released, I suggest you to try running the Launcher (MWLL.Launcher.exe), and then use its "Check for updates" link to start the Auto Updater.
Please let me know if this fixes the crash.

Thanks, that worked.

A little addition:

The 0.3.2-patch.ZIP mentioned by Ingrater  is then zip posted on the front page for gameservers ONLY. It still works for clients. But I was browsing and looking for another zip until i simply tried the server one :)

I can't find this file and the game issues the "wrong files installed" warning. I run the 0.3.2 EXE from Fileplanet, but still get this error. This is on a clean install and patched version (1-2-1) of Crysis.

......ok, I found the .ZIP version.   http://www.mwlldownload.com/download/MWLL-OpenBeta-Patch-0.3.2.zip    ......will try that one.

Plenty of topcis of this and so far people were able to solve it. Kit made a good guide, follow it in each step, especially verifying your MD5Sums (!) for each downloaded file.
