Your saying eyefinity looks the same as having it on just one screen? Becuase on one screen surley everything would be alot smaller to fit it on the screen :S

I actually might just try it tbh, how did you do it and i'll see for myself.

Of course everything is smaller on one screen. Eyefinity does NOT buy you an advantage though, any more than buying a bigger/higher resolution monitor does.

I'd tell you how I did it but your attitude sucks so I'll let you figure it out for yourself  ;D

My attidude doesn't suck, but yours obvuiosly does. If you gonna start spouting stuff and not even let people see for themselves.....
I know you just changed the screen ratio, can't really see how to do it, I guess I could mess around until something works, it can't be that hard if you can do it tbh.

And having 3 montiors is increasing your resoultion XD

And having everything way smaller on screen is a huge disadvantage to having 3 montiors. Worth paying money for? No idea until I see how small things get..... I'm not blind but I still like to see what I'm shooting at clearly when they are a small blob in the distance :D

I don't see the point in either, but I'm not into super realstic games, and I get fully engaged in games as it is without needing 2  extra monitors, or streching the screen.

Do you see more of the screen. Yes. Is it fun to play like that. F**k no. It's horribly to play like that. It isn't fun or barable for any length of time. If you are going to argue, you can do it with one monitor and have the same advantage, then yeah, it's possible. But playable??? Hmmm I really don't think so.

Everything is small, and it just feels like you are zoomed out loads.

Eyefinity = FAR FAR FAR better than this. There is no possible way it could be worse. In fact doing what you did, in my opionion is far worse than just playing it normally. Your height is so small, that it is lower than VGA! And makes aiming near impossible.

Well done, for making some pretty screenshots, but that is all.

The eyefinity is extremely exciting because it adds to FPS games what I always have felt has been missing most: peripheral vision.  Assuredly, the central monitor will be viewed the most, but what has always irritated me moswt in FPS is having to actually turn the avatar left or right to look around.  It looks like EyeFinity creates a much more immersive virtual environment, and I definitely think it would be a serious advantage to have it.

I have a few questions about it so I hope those out there who have EyeFinity would be kind enough to answer them.

1. The demos of Crysis I have seen don't seem to modify the image relative to the slant of the monitor.  That is, what I have looked at appears to actually use three monitors to compose a single flat rather than curved image.  Is that correct, or does Crysis support some kind of image rendering that accounts for the slant of the side monitors?

2. I am currently running an Intel Core 2 Quad 2.83Ghz (9550) with 4GB DDR2 a dedicated SanDisk Cruzer 4GB for ReadyBoost, and an NVIDIA 9500GT.  The obvious performance bottleneck is the graphics accelerator.  I currently get a really nice frame rate at 1920 x 1080 with all setting set to low, and I get a super framerate if I reduce it to 1600 x 900.  Assuming that I keep the extant system and move to an ATI 5870 EyeFinity card, how high do you think I would be able to get a smooth framerate on three monitors running at 1920 x 1080 each?  That is, should I be able to expect Medium, high, or very high from this card?

3. The 5870 EyeFinity edition is currently co0mmanding high prices.  How quickly do the prices of ATI cards tend to drop?  That is, how long do you think I would have to wait for such a card to drop to the $200 range?

Yes, that's the card, but I would only run 3 monitors.  I'm looking more and thinking that anything in the 5000 series might work.  Is that correct?

You want to get at least a 57xx or better ATI card. Remember your be running in low graphic settings with 3 monitors, and yet it's gonna stress your GC near the max with 3 monitors ^^

The 5870 will run it, extremly well, in fact, I think it's what most people here on the fourms use for Eyefinity.

Prices always go down, but they really won't drop much until ATI bring out something better. The last bunch of Nvidia cards have helped, but don't expect it to drop by alot without waiting years! Unless you can find it in a sale :D

Sleepysheep, thanks for the advice.  While I definitely appreciate the advice about the 57xx or better, I'm looking at a cheap 5670 right at the moment.  It fits my budget, I think it would be loads better than the NVIDIA 9500GT, and it has a low profile.  If I get one of those double-width cards, I'll lost my only PCIE x 1 slot and consequently will lose my RAID 0, which I am probably not going to allow to happen.  What do you all think?  Will the 5670 perform loads better than the 9500GT?  If it will, it will be a great stopgap while I'm waiting for the prices of the 5770 and 5870 to drop.

Most cards are double width these days, and they need it becuase of all the cooling :D Thicker doesn't always mean better, but in this case, it does :D

It's going to depend on what res you are trying to run all 3 monitors on. And even though 5670 will be alot better than 9500, you might as well just wait a month and then buy the better  57** or 58** card. I would assume though that the 5670 would be good enough for eyeinifity as long as you aren't hoping to raise settings or get super amazing fps.

Cool.  I was checking out a review that says the 5670 lacks punch.  I found a HIS-brand 5770 1GB that will do.  The RAID controller is tiny and does not extend past the PCIe x1 slot.  Unfortunately, most manufacturers place the heat sink so that it overlaps the lower x1 slot.  The HIS card will do nicely.  The heat sink completely clears the lower slot,  There is a plastic bezel which could provide a possible problem, but a minuscule mod would eliminate that problem.  Thus, I could have a 5770 and my RAID controller.  I'm a little worried however that my PCIe x16 slot might not be up to snuff.  My Intel Motherboard is over three years old, and I think the PCIe is version 1.  I know that the new cards are backward compatible with the older versions of the slot, but I might lose some features.

Don't worry about PCIe version unless you're getting a 5970 or something. A 5770 won't be able to tell the difference.

Yeah, the bandwidth is enough, it really won't make much of a difference unless you use a top of the range card. So no problems at all.

Sweet!  Now I just need some money...lol.  Hopefully, that version will still be available in a couple of months.  It's really a pain to cruise through every listing for a particular card to find one that will actually fit in the system without compromising my PCIe x1 slot.
