Hello MechWarrior: Living Legends fans! In the coming months, the MWLL team will be undertaking a new round of development to follow our 0.3.0 release and its related hotfixes. In a move away from our prior "large" release structure, we will be using the new embedded auto-updater feature (released with 0.3.2) to release smaller updates at more regular intervals. We will still have minor version content packs that embody a particular new feature an its supporting assets, but we will be using "hotfix" versioning to deliver both bug/balance fixes and individual content updates.
One of the major changes to our schedule is to defer the Crysis Wars port until Toth's connectivity has been fully restored. We had originally planned this to be delivered as version 0.4.0 shortly after the final hotfixes of version 0.3.x, but we absolutely need Toth to be able to pull that off, and he is still AFK for a bit.
As such, we have been pushing ahead with other development. Terrain Control (TC) and Free For All (FFA) game modes are nearly done except for final polish on supporting maps and assets. We are really looking forward to releasing these to the community as much more interesting alternatives to SA and ToS. As you might expect, both Team Tickets and Individual Player Tickets will be supported for TC. Both modes will launch with at least 3 maps each.
For vehicle development, we have decided to focus on filling in some of the gaps in our tracked vehicle ranks by adding Medium tanks to the mix. I can't share exactly which models just yet, but they will fill the void that currently exists in our "straight to Heavies" lineup. New 'Mech production will continue, but with a lower priority for this development cycle.
The
Clan Xerxes Heavy fighter is our next planned aerospace to add as a playable asset. After some additional polish and some fresh paint, we expect this terror to join the skies and give Shiva pilots something to be concerned about.
And not to forget everyones' favourite: Battle Armour. For the short term, we plan on adding to the equipment purchase selection options for our standard Elemental/Longinus BA, again under the "dedicated BA" path concept. Currently anticipated (initial) upgrades will be: JJ upgrade (increased burn, faster recycle), enhanced harjel pack (faster armour regen) and manpack BAP (increased radar detection range).
Alongside the BA upgrades path we will be bringing on a new system of BA Valuation Scoring. This system will factor in the BA player equipment inventory & weapons, player rank and "dedicated" status to determine an appropriate C-Bill reward for the killing of the player.
We hope that you have enjoyed this peek into our upcoming development, but know that it only touches on a few topics in the overall list. We also have some plans for "surprise" content and features to maintain a consistently refreshed feel for the MWLL mod.
If anyone reading this has skills in modeling, exporting models to CryEngine2, texturing, level design, character animation or C++ programming we would love to receive
an application from you.
