Also, but not completly related to my other post, the new nintendo handheld will be 3d, and apparently not using glasses. This is quite possible, working on the same princibles as with glasses but getting the screen to show two pictures that only one eye can see each picture by aligning them at an angle.

This tech has been out for ages and you commonly see it in theme parks, but has one majour flaw (which is why it's not used commercial) that you have to be directly infront of the screen to get the effect, if you are to the sides the 3dness doesn't really work at all. How nintendo are going to get around this problem (If at all) is a mystery.

They are expensive as hell, they cost nearly twice what my current 21" widwcreen LCD moitor cost me
I have been looking at those 3D glasses for some time, but have had touble finding a plce where I can buy those monitors at an affordable price

Cheapest I can find are 430 USD/ 330 Eur (2700 NOK)
And then I ned the glasses too which I have no idea what cost.
If I keep going at this rate I'll never get my new rig built. :P

Heck, from what I can read about it I cant even use it my my current rig.

Long as you have a nvidia 200 series or above, you can do red/blue 3d easy mode. And the glasses for the super uber 3d cost about £120-£150 depends where you find them. £300 -£400 for a monitor is not alot of money (I mean it's alot of money but not for a monitor ^^) Becuase I like a decent monitor not some crap thats gonna die in a year. Which is why my current one has lasted me for four years at least now and is still going. (24" 1900x1200).

If you REALLy do want 3d, then just stick with your current monitor which will do fine, and in a few months time, buy a 3d one and glasses. If you don't care, then buy a nice 24"-"30 LCD PC monitor, and enjoy! Either way your still going to have to wait a couple of months to afford a monitor with the rig ^^

Checked one of 2 netshops I use when buying computer equipment, they have a deal on nVIDIA 3D Vision glasses and Samsung 22" LCD 2233RZ 120hz at about £370. (3700 NOK)

I started saving up for the equipment though, I got some money back on my tax this year and have set up an automatic transfer of money every month to my savings account.

I'm also looking to get me a new TV, 42" LCD TV and a PS3, so I got plenty I need to save up.

My current rig is good for now, but its about time I upgrade to a new OS, so I figured I may as well get a new rig at the same time.

4 GB ram
250 GB HDD + 2.5 TB on 3 external HDDs
Win XP Pro 32 bit
Geeforce GTS 250 1 GB RAM
Sound Blaser X-Fi Fatality Sound card

I upgraded it with a new GFX card, MB and CPU about 8 months ago, but feel its about time I built a new powerhouse

If you just brought the best Nvidia graphics card, and windows 7 (Maybe a new hard drive to make it less hassle :D) you could run Crysis max settings easy in DX10 x64 mode.

If you just want to go for the full blown thing, then of course go for it, but isn't totally needed if you wanted to spend less money. If however you want to do what I do, and go feck it, lets burn money, then yeah new rig :D Hehe.

Well I dont so much "upgrading" of the comp over the past 3-4 years I thougth this time I wanna go all out and get a completely new rig.
Figured I could have the old one as backup, and could use it as a secondary one if I want to.
Another issue with my current one is that the MB I have now only has 2 RAM slots.
The one I'm looking at buying has 6 RAM slots, making it much easier and cheaper to upgrade my RAM in the future.
Besides, never hurts ot have a backup in case the other stops working or you have to reformat or something.

Well assuming its triple channel, it would have to have 6, being you stick ram in 3's ^^

And for backup, that's what laptops and netbooks are for. But hell buy a new rig and be happy :D

I do have a laptop, but I doubt it can run MWLL.
Although it was bought for gaming and have a standalone gfx card.
Dont remember the exact specs for it right now, but I'm sure you can find them on the net.

Model: HP dv6834eo

Another thought just ocurred to me.
I forgot something very improtant for my new rig.
How am I supposed to install any software on the damn thing without a CD/DVD player in it?
Need to add that to the order list as well, which will bring the price up to around  £1750 -1800 (17.500-18.000 NOK).
I must be getting old. :P

Oh and the specs for the RAM I'll be getting:
DDR3 PC3-12800 1600MHz Value Gold Tri Channel 6GB Kit(3x2048MB) 8-8-8-24 (i7)1.65V

Well yeah, might as well buy a gaming keyboard and mouse as well ^^ I will make you poor! lol.

No idea why you would buy something like that for gaming XD It will run Crysis, but not that well.

But I have netbook as backup, not to play MWLL, but so I have something to help solve why my PC is dead :) Comes in handy.

I use the MX5000 cordless desktop set, which in my opinion is the best there is.
Its the MX5000 keyboard and mx 1000 laser mouse.
Only problem is that they have gone out of production and has become increasingly hard to come by.

I honestly have to admidt that I have yet to find a mouse that beats the mx1000 in flexibility.
10 buttons that can be assigned to pretty much any function you want, in addition is I find it very comfortable in my hand.

I also had a question, I was thinking of going for the GTS 250 gfx card with 1 GB RAM, but then I saw the GTX 460 and 465 at affordable prices.
Its it worth adding another £100 (1000 NOK) to the price for the 460 or 465 or is the difference not worth the price?

It's like comparing apples and orange.

The 250GFX is a good card thats around the mid spec for the 200 series and is dx10. While the 460 and 465 are the brand spanking new GPU nvidia have brought out, with DX11. They are alot closer to the top end cards. The 460 and 465 should rape a 250GFX.

Any 400series card is a far better choice than the 200 series, not only do you get DX11, but they are extremly powerful cards easily a match for any of the ATI 5xxx series (Just maybe not price wise)

Buy the 400 series cards if you can afford it, you will not be disapointed. Max settings at 1900x1200 should be easy, while the 250gfX will not be able to with any 20+fps in dx10 mode.

As I always say, you always get what you pay for.

Had a weird issue yesterday with my computer.
Was watching a movie when suddenly I got a BSOD.
when I tried booting up the computer again it came up with a message saying there was a read error on my disc.
I could get into BIOS, it was after that the message came up.
I tried booting from my Win CD and still it gave me the read error.
I dunno how many times I tried, in the end I gave the computer case a carefull kick, and that did it. It booted up again.

Odd thing is, that even though I removed them from the boot sequence, and physically disconnected the externals from my computer, it still sounded as if my computer tried to boot from them.
I could hear the External HDs spin up for reading every time I rebooted my coputer even though they were disconnected.
I know it sounds weird, and I cant explain it, just that it was what I experienced.

I got 3 external HDs 1 of withch conatain about 1 TB of movies, when I tried starting up the movie again it could not play it for some odd reason.
I could read the HD, and could see everything that was on it, but it could not play any of the movies.
After rebotting my computer again however, it had no problem reading from the disc again.

It seems to be working again now, but think I should get a new HD for it just in case.

Could be a loose cable or the HDD could be dying. It also could be the motherboard but thats very very very unlikly.

HDD sadly don't last forever, my dads just randomly decided after taking his side panel off to completly currupt windows. Never touched anything else. Everything else was fine on the drive mind you. Sometimes s**t just happens lol.

BSOD on a HDD, is defiently a bad omen.
