Can crysis or sandbox run on a crappy computer?
« on: July 16, 2010, 11:48:45 AM »
I'm just wondering if the Crysis Sandbox 2 editor can run on a crappy system. What I mean is, if I my laptop (described here: http://www.mechlivinglegends.net/forum/index.php/topic,9727.msg141985.html#msg141985) can run Crysis and sandbox, or just sandbox. I currently have a pirated version (rats!) but will get some other (legitimate) copy soon. I just want to try making maps for the game even if I won't be able to run the game yet.

Side note: do Warhead/Wars work better/use less resources?
People are stupid if they think they can have their own way.

... that is, unless they have HEAP rounds, high-explosive homing missiles, and terawatt lasers on a walking weapons platform, that is...

Intel graphics chipsets aren't even enough to run Halflife 2, and Crysis is a good bit more demanding.

would it still start though? I mean, wouldn't it crash when I start playing?

If it starts, could I access sandbox through it?

I don't know, but I could only imagine the horror of the slideshow that would result

Solitare is taxing enough for your PC. It would be quicker to find a job, work for a few months, spend earnings on a new rig, than waiting for the sandbox to fully load. God help you if you want to do anything in it ^^

Just becuase warhead runs smoother than normal Crysis, doesn't mean you don't need a half decent PC to get Medium/high, or a 1million hamster powered PC to run it on Very high ^^

Jokes aside, save up your pennies and get a better graphic card, or PC.

ok thanks
this graphics card actually runs very demanding games OK on the medium settings, and the memory and other stuff is perfect

and I don't play solitaire, I'm not that old.  ;)

also, I don't care if running LOW would get me at a severe disadvantage, I just want to play this awesome mod. or help make it at least. and I doubt loading sandbox takes much graphics capability (if you look at the other stats you'd see that I have a blazing computer)

I understand that I can't get decent quality with what I have now, and so I'm looking into new laptop graphics cards. but I want to start something now no matter the quality.

edit: could a dev please comment on this?
