I'd love to play after a nice day of work, kick back, and play a game where everyone wasn't BA and Air.
Sadly, the new meta is "I play a team game solo" and there is literally no strategy in the games at all.
Suggestion: Eliminate BA Weapons and Air until player population increases again. I know Bolter and Elf and a couple others want to make the game absolutely intolerable and score lots of noob kills, but that is the problem. Hardly anyone online, and from the history graph, looks like the game is hemorrhaging players, and I doubt it is just the summer doldrums.
Cue the neckbeards with their defend the noob killer comments.

Bolter and Elf don't want to do that. They are at least players who switch to the less powerful team (at least when asked). The problem lies with players who always stack and don't care about helping the less experienced or less powerful team.

Elf and Bolter were VTOL-ing C2 on Cliff. Ask them, they are awful people, and they want MWLL to be a graveyard of players.

It's not true. EVERYONE is playing BA/Air. NO ONE is willing to cap. Unless they are VTROLLING.
There is only one fix. Nerf hammer the piss out of air and BA weapons. Also, BA are way, way too small. The size of them is just not accurate to battletech.

Sadly, since there are constant VTOL's I have to take tanks to be able to get a shot off. And of course it feels like only 2% of the hits ever register.
To be clear, I also support a nerf to the tanks along with the obliteration of air and BA.
It's called MECHWARRIOR. Not "COMBINED ARMS GAME".
I guess the BA and Air addicts here can't compete in FPS games where there aren't guppies in a barrel to shoot at.

@Enigma i feel your pain, I really do.
But while obviously the MW:LL title is somewhat miss leading, it is still how Mechs go about combined arms game.
So far the dev team merely completed (or is about to) what the original devs had in the work pipe line - nothing more.
And while there is still more work to be done, the game is still away from what all the original team had in mind.
I assure you, the balance is also way improved over what we had back then (0.7.1 era) and we are rid of many builds that caused cancer and rage quit among many a player...
I agree with you the game is quite more taxing on the nerves than any other title I ever played. It it is planed to be even more so.
The ASF, that where a niche back then, are a class that can be used (and enjoyed) by players now - ASF vs ASF dogfight is out of scope of the game development team, everything else is fair game.
The BA are midst a extensive rework, and are broken somewhat by the time - it is known by most of the active community - but they have hard counters one can use for the time still...
One can't simply get in a public match right now and be "master and commander" any more - the game grew complex, one has to read the wiki guides, explore play styles and work on his own - tactics, strategy and skill included.
This is partially due to having players with year long mileage with this game, and a healthy influx of quite competitive and able layers from other MW titles as of recent.

To be clear, this is a "TEAM" game - Those that only play ASF and BA are playing a solo game. They do not cap normally. They do not tank damage for allies, and they want GLORY that they took the David and Goliath fight and "won". On the other hand, at least with Elf, he's a coward that is afraid of being damaged, and that is a different kind of sad.
This rant is that the game could be in 2000% better shape if a few people found something better to do with their time, and/or took a real challenge, like achieve 10 kills with a Chimera and never get killed themselves.
The problem is that there are players with a "win at all costs" mentality that are driving this game into oblivion.
There have been legit STREAMERS show up with a whole pile of people logging in, and what happens? BA, Air, Long Tom, Thumper.
No epic battles. No actual fights that decide the game, just Saber, Elf, Bolter, and a few others, that make this game utterly pointless. At least Sabre doesn't show up all that often, since he's 100x better than Elf.
This mod, while not perfect, sucks because a few core vets have figured out how to make the game cancer.
If you want it better, don't apologize for them, vocally call for nerfs that actually balance things like the sky Demolishers and the VTOL's that don't register incoming hits properly. Or if you don't care, enjoy empty servers. Take your pick.

What is the point of staying? So I can sit in tanks so that I can fire upwards at elf? So I can make sure the unit I have has flamers to shoot bolter? So I can watch them snipe noobs and brag about it? So I can wash-rinse-repeat EVERY SINGLE MAP with the EXACT SAME STRATEGY? No thanks, there are a ton of better games out there.

You're a Democrat. You aren't fighting the status quo. You aren't doing ANYTHING to make this game better. You are not the #Resistance, you are the #Assistance. You don't lobby Invictus to eliminate air, or at least armor them appropriately. You don't constantly insult the noob killers in-game-chat. Half of you apologize for them, or "ask" them to switch teams, as if that makes something better.

I'm sad that all you all that know what the problem is just sit sheepishly waiting for it to get better. It won't. It makes me incredibly frustrated when there is a game with as much potential as this is ruined by a few players that exploit absolutely unfair mechanics. It's more frustrating that ya'll don't give a frack and call a spade a spade. I know Invictus is good at flying, and likes it, but it's an incredibly broken mechanic, and should be trashed unless someone figures out how to balance appropriately. I'm sorry, VTOL's should be one-hit wonders, as ROTORS are easy to destroy with an AC. Of course in MWLL, they can evade 80% of fire, and soak gobs of damage.
I'd say out of the last month or two of playing, there have been about 3 good games, and notably the coward-class of player (Elf, Bolter, and a couple others) were notoriously absent, and so were air units/BA. The orther 47 games were cookie-cutter noob stomps, which apparently can't be figured out until there is a 200 point deficit on one side.
Go ahead and "fight" the status quo, though, I'm not sure you're really doing that. A good solution would be whip out the nerf hammer on air/BA, but that's about as likely as Elf using that name while playing land units. Usually he has a K/D of something like 5/10 so he won't be honest about his lack of skill.

Teams tend to be woefully stacked. Plus we know that certain players have perfected their niche craft and know how to exploit it to the detriment of other players' enjoyment, small match viability, and the game as a whole. While skill with an asset should no doubt be rewarded, it must remain possible to counter it without resorting to extreme measures (e.g. Sparrowhawk Guided Missiles)
It's all part of the game, git gud, and yadda yadda, but you know it's true.

There are genuine issues, brought up here, which could have been solved by a streamlined release practice, we never had implemented to a degree it reliably works over several patches...
(open source projects (also zero money affairs) have nightly builds == releases of zero effort, since decades now...)
Some of the bugs are known and reportedly alleviated (no gain on BA damage, various go-to variants - aka personal nerfs..., buffs to less commonly fielded mechs)
Some of the issues might be here to stay due to no known workaround (lag shield, thru target clipping) but others might be solved eventually (VTOL out of fire-cone positioning, perpetual balooning, base rape camping...) but what needs most urgent addressing by the project leadership - is the FAQ ("hey guize nice game why doncha X?", "this X is so OP please fix") to cushion the player salt a bit IMHO
This is a mere 0.10 - we're not even over the "1.0" - but we're getting there - hang on!

Sadly the game kicks me off in the first 5-8 minutes almost every time. Is there a fix for this? Possibly due to a slow connection?

Game isnt broken. Lets start with; tanks absolutely do not need a nerf at all. This isnt MW1-4, tanks are not, in any way shape or form intended to be cannon fodder. Aero and BA are pretty well balanced, there are more weapons that can effectively one shot BA then can't. Aero is already squishy enough as is, you can destroy a shiva in a single pass if it makes t he wrong dive. any other plane will die even faster. VTOLs are also fairly easy to destroy in any situation that isnt a straight up 1v1. In short, consider getting good instead of begging devs to remove the things you currently lack the skill to handle. [I'm aware iom wasting my time posting this but felt the need to do it anyway.]

Ok, DEVS - please make all mechs have the ability to shoot directly up. All the "git guds" will find themselves never in any kind of air unit.
