Would it be possible to implement squad system ? Its kinda hard to do things together with all manuevers and all stuff going on. Also since you have to run from base every time it would be neat to see your specific mates, without asking every time where they are. I`d see it as groups you can join, wich change your squad mates name color and give additional marker that is drawn all the time, no matter the distance. What do you think ?

Would be cool if you could designate certain players and always have them visible on HUD.

Yes, basically this. There wouldn't be much of a use for a squad system anyway.
But it'd be cool if you could tag a teammate you're interested in, so that then his nickname, radar and minimap icons would change color. This would make playing together with someone much more comfortable.

Something akin to the periphery ship icons in x3 would work well for this

Games like battlefield tend to give a bonus when you play in a squad. Slight c-bill boost when near friends?
