Which start page is better?

There are two options.

A flat view of all discussions: http://mwll-forum.clanjadewolf.net/all

Which is better? Try to argue from the point of view of a newbie trying to understand this place.

The second one. It tells me exactly what people are discussing as well as gives me a rough idea of how active each discussion is along with easily accessible thread creation date to see if it's outdated. This seems like the far more pragmatic choice to ease forum browsing. If you can push certain pinned threads to the top for newbies to read, there should be no contest.

I would say the second page is the best for a newb visiting the site. The site is primarily about the community first and foremost, which without we would not be able to play this game, so I think that's where people coming to the site should start - by being introduced to the community first.

Also I think the menu bar could use a couple of changes. Firstly, it's a bit confusing clicking "Homepage" which takes you to an information page about the game and on how to install it, with a tiny link back to the forum sitting down the bottom under "Useful stuff". I can see the intent behind this page but I don't think it works well at all for a homepage, moreso just as I described it above - an about and howto page.

Secondly it is not immediately clear how to get back to the forum home page from within threads in the forum itself. I made an educated guess myself in clicking the top banner and also the Mech LL icon to the left of "Homepage" to find my way back there.

My suggestion would be to change "Homepage" to "Forum" and have it go to the forum 'All Discussions' page (https://forum.mechlivinglegends.net/) and then between it and "Wiki" have an "About/Install" link to what is the current homepage.

I hope that helps. Having just come to the site today these are definitely some things I noticed that could be better / more obvious in the first few minutes of finding my way own around.

Yes, the homepage button is something that I recognized as confusing. I've decided to remove it entirely. Someone who registers here very likely already has downloaded the game anyway.

I will not provide a third button (fourth if you count the left-arrow thingie) to go back to the main page. Too redundant. People will just have to figure it out.

When/if we get significantly more topics and posts then that tags ("category") overview will be better because searching specific stuff will be easier that way. For now with these limited post numbers this flat view of all discussions is ok.
