Sandhurst RMC (MW Academy): New Student Information
« on: December 22, 2010, 04:52:26 AM »
Hello all,

Welcome to the Sandhurst Royal Military College, the last vestige of the original Star League's military training might.  We are a school made up of volunteer trainers and are not affiliated with any Clan, House, or Mercenary Group, although several of our trainers are.  The purpose of this college is to prepare you, a new player, with the information needed to reduce your learning curve and make you a valuable player should you choose to join any of the organized units in the game.

The SRMC volunteers can be found here on the forums or on the multiplayer servers.  For a list of current volunteers, please check here: http://forum.mechlivinglegends.net/index.php/topic,11347.0.html

Our program is designed to give you a run through of the several different vehicle types, weapons types, and basic controls for Mechwarrior: Living Legends.  As you may have already noticed, the game is very intense and has more inputs than your basic First Person Shooter.  Our trainers volunteer their personal time to help you navigate the various huds, controls, and vehicles, and help you gain basic proficiency in each.  If you are interested in the first session curriculum outlined in the linked posting, please leave your online game name here as well as interest in any advanced trainings offered by specialist trainers.

hey neongod, It's kinda of a work in progress but i'm on generally.  Lets start with what timezone you're in and see if we can't find a trainer that would fit well time wise

You can use the following like to find out what your timezone is in GMT time

Hi Neongod,

Just look for myself or any of the trainers while playing and give us a shout out.  If I'm on, I'll drop out of that game and we'll move to a quieter server to start running through the curriculum.  It's still pretty rough right now as you are the first student and we are all new to being teachers, but we'll follow the outline and work on improving both your skills and your understanding of them during each session.  Thank you for signing up, this is an opportunity to see how well this experiment is going to work for both of us. :)

I am actually trying to try and find someone that we can schedule to train 5-6 guys at a time so that I can send all my guys though that have MWLL at one time. For some guys in our clan it would be a refresher but for some of us that are coming over from MW4 it would be an overview.

Not yet, it was kind of a "see the response and build what is necessary" type event.  However, if we are running a full Star through at a time, it might be worth it.

Before you worry too much about the prices of hosting and all that, remember that if you have a decent enough computer and connection, you can host your own dedicated server that can handle small groups of people - including yourself - with no issue.  Good enough for the purposes of a training session.

I have set up a small 12 player server on repeating Clearcut for RMC use.  No password, and I'll let it run as much as I can.  I work evenings, so I'll just let it run the entire time I'm at work and check on it in the mornings.  I'll see what I can do to start a teamspeak server as well.
