Going to start updating mech pages
« on: January 03, 2011, 01:34:07 PM »
For 0.4.x

Going to add a "briefing" for each variant with " tactical recommendations".

Going to start with the mechs I know the best and go from there.

Also planning to make a tactical term glossary for any terms I use that I may go into more detail while taking up less space.

Will be working on this for the next few weeks.

I will add pages to those links I included to explain the terminology I use.

Looks nice. As often this is based purely on opinion but it still reads very nicely and should give newcomers a good hint what a variant is good for.

Keep it coming :)

Just finished the Raven page updates - Prices and Loadouts fixed for the Prime, A, B, and C variants (they didn't change much).  Added the D and E variants, stats and blurbs.

If someone could tell me where to find armor values (which .xml file and where), I'll update those as well.  I'm also not sure how you calculate the total base armor stat that's listed for the old variants.  Is it just the total of all the armor segments?

If someone could tell me where to find armor values (which .xml file and where)
In Mods\mwll\Game\ extract GameData.pak (e.g. using 7zip). In there in Scripts\Entities\Vehicles\Implementations\Xml are the vehicle descriptions.

In the XML files look for these lines:
Code: [Select]
<Component damageMax="1500" fRepair="1" id="idComponentHead" name="head">
damageMax is the components armor value.

The armor for the variants looks like this:
Code: [Select]
<Modification name="Prime">
      <Elems>
        <Elem idRef="idComponentHead" name="damageMax" value="1500"/>
The variants base armor seems to be just the sum of those.

which xml has the variant weapons load out, pretty sure most of the ones on the wikis are out of date.

The Buy Menu .xml is located in mwll/Game/Languages/mp_text_messages.xml, this may have small errs in it and may not correspond entirely to what is actually fitted on the Assets. (See the BUG Report board on that)

The Weapons Loadouts for the individual Assets is located in GameData/Scripts/Vehicles/Implementations/Xml
Copy/Paste the GameData.pak elsewhere to avoid corrupting the .pak file.

Don't forget to remove the out of date tags :D (unless the Puma article is still in the works, in which case carry on)

Ok, i brought the info boxes up to date for: Shadowcat, Madcat, Thanatos, Warhammer, Mauler, Madcat.
They are still missing the prose for the new variants and the old descriptions should be checked. Prose is not my cup of tea :-X

Digging the values out manually is a bit tedious, thus i hacked a little python script together to do that (attached, needed to rename due to upload restrictions). It only supports mechs though at the moment and doesn't give you speed, torso rotation, prices and name (have to see where i can get those from, hints appreciated).
-> Moving that to a seperate thread.

I fixed my script up a little and went through all asset info boxes that i didn't fix before.
All articles for assets that are still in Articles requiring update only need their descriptions checked/updated.
