Newb Gameplay
« on: June 28, 2013, 04:59:47 PM »
Hi
I was going to post this video inside another thread but better decided to try into a new one
I'm kind of a newb posting Gameplay Videos but still want to see how I did this:

Full link:

I was testing the X pulse lasers for the first time, also was one of the first times I could be competitive enough in Solaris Arena, normally I'm far worst.
I'm happy to receive any suggestions for improvement.

And Thanks to all those people who made those battles so much fun. :)

I would recommend getting in the habit of hitting the E key when in a circle fight etc. That'll bring up your enemy on the radar and you can focus on the part of their torso that's the most damaged for a quicker kill.

That was really good, and has seriously whet my appetite for some more MWLL.

Getting into the mech at the start was a bit painful to watch ;) (but you'll get that soon I'm sure!) and after that was some good solid brawling.

not 3 bad there buddy ;) if i might be so bold as to say:
ssrms will gain a lock on an enemy, if your radar is set to active. Be aware of your weapon ranges, no need to build unnecessary heat... When your firing but need to maneuver i find its handy to zoom out to raise the mouse sensitivity, helps to stay on target,
but aside from all that you dint do too badly.
hope to see you on the field :)

Thats fairly sums it up...only one more thing: Watch your back more, both of your deaths wehre trough the back armor.

I normally watch Al1erEgo's (A-Lone) Channel, to learn from his gameplays, and recently noticed what Sxooter mentioned, and is much more important than I thougt, because you can get very easy kills, but normally in the heat of the battle I become a mess with the controls (need more confidence, and sometimes my cheap KB seems to show ghosting problems).

Just today I started reading the Wiki for some in-depth information, about the weapons behavior, mechs variants and armor (only got time to review the lights, and its not updated in a few areas), so I could make better selections for the situation that I'm going to face in each map, and that helped me alot, thanks to b0bgeld0f suggestion.

In my last match in TC_Mirage I enjoyed using, a Solitaire C, wich was a b**** to use due to its speed and lasers, but I had a pretty good survivability for some reason, a Hollander II, though I don't remmember which one but I think It had an extra ton in armor, and a MadCat my all times favorite (It was the first mech I used in my life when I was 7 years old in the MWII demo) but this time using the cheaper C variation with flamers that were so good for brawling that I could kill 2 heavies in less than 10 secs, I think they were already damaged but wasn't visible, I was pretty excited, I didn't got a good place in the table but I enjoyed it a lot.

Also I use a Trackball, so my aim has never been very good with it due to lack of resolution.

Thanks for your suggestions.

Also I use a Trackball...

Wow, that's a new one! Well, whatever you prefer I guess. I could never get on with trackballs, as you say, the precision of a mouse is much better.

Mouse definitively have far more precision than my Logitech M570, but I'm kind of forced to use it because of space constraints and practicality for HTPC, but the best option would be using Joystick, just like old times.

I haven't used a Joystick in 16 years, but still remember it was almost necessary for the old MechWarrior games.

Joystick and Mouse/trackball for the best experience.

Don't change target until its dead, lower your mouse sensitivity to be able to keep aim on target, don't turn your mech (A and D buttons) while you shoot your targets to avoid aim kick.

*taking notes* the last one has always been quite a dilema, because I want to keep controlling my mech while still firing to avoid crashing onto something and making myself more vulnerable.

Just slow down a bit in combat, remember the faster you go the wider you turn, and try to avoid firing while changing direction whenver possible. In time you'll learn to control your aim and compensate for crosshair movement caused by turns and terrain.
