More importantly it was easier to read and more pretty. The original designer used the form and colours purposefully.


Btw. when I am talking about "the old HUD" I mean the "finished" Elements, i.e. the reticle and the boobs.

Having the map and radar on different spot on the screen is just not the most user friendly.

Well that's pretty much what I meant.

Btw. when I am talking about "the old HUD" I mean the "finished" Elements, i.e. the reticle and the boobs.

Likewise, don't think you by any means have to make a carbon copy of the old gal. But it would be nice for my mental ergonomics to have all my sensors, maps and potentially an ammo counter (potentially one for each weapon group?) all along the same eye level.

I would like OTOH, the HUD elements customizable by the player locally:

give it an XML and let it be editable to users?

So all get what they want

and just few templates as defaults

the way the key mappings are now?

I'd say that's an idea to keep hold of, but not one to be pursuing right away.

Weren't they listed in the 8.0 changelog?

The old HUD had better color contrast and was easier to see. I think we can keep some of the current HUD but change the colors a bit to be seen easier.

Coolant, throttle, heat, and JJ Bars are straight instead of curved all funny? I think that's an improvement.

Also, BA HUD is better now than ever before.

If you look at those bars independent from the rest of the HUD, it's neither an improvement, nor a change for the worse. However if you look at those bars in combination with the rest of the HUD it is a change for the worse, because they waste more space. As already said, the old HUD was purposefully made this way.


Also, BA HUD is better now than ever before.

No one is saying it isn't.
