Battletech Lego models! Yay!

Some of my wild adventures with legos!

First a Mad Cat (made a few years ago)

Second, a Catapult (made about ten minutes later)

Third, a Locust! (made last week)

These are made out of both system legos, the technic pieces, and a newer type of lego technic pieces from the series Bionicle. They're quite handy for making mechs! Next on my list is a Shadowcat and a Cougar. A long time ago I had a full-system Shadowcat, a cougar, and a catapult but they've since been dismantled.

Thought you guys'd be interested in this.

Yeah, I saw that. My brother has a complete 1.5-foot tall Madcat made that he also made in MLCad. He submitted it to that site but they said it had too many dots on it...

EDIT: ...and it totally looks better than the one up there. My brothers and I spent waaay too much of our childhood making entire `mech bases, hehe. We had an Elemental and a Jenner, also.

EDIT 2: See the models you find out there aren't all thaaat big. WE make BIG ones. Our next project is to make a 2 or 3 foot tall `mech outta legos... It'll take a while to find the time to do that, though. See I use my Bionicle pieces to create small, flexible, and accurate models of a small to medium size because that's where the ball joints work well and support weight.

EDIT 3: Heh, my Locust is staring at me form the top of my computer. It demands companions! I love that I can make it into that pose you always see where it's running. It actually balances quite well.

LOL! Yeah custom Lego mechs! I remember building a few and we use make up our own rules for combat. Later we started using little water guns to emulate shots fired. Where ever your mech got wet was where you got hit :D.

Hehe, use paintballs for Gauss gun, right...

No, we had cats. Rex never messed with my legos (touching them is penalty of death, first offense) and Whimsy was SO lazy; getting to them was too much effort.

If you ask me, building with legos is a lot easier than 3D modeling.

Honestly it's totally along the same lines...i guess i was the kid that sawed my lego pieces to make them fit properly so 3d modelling is cheaper and less frustrating for me :D
